Personally, I thought this dinner to cheer Brittney up turned out to be a good idea. Maybe a little too good. With all the gifts and at her favorite restaurant, Brittney had suddenly become an extremely talkative gossiper. The fresh gossip bubbled out of her mouth like a waterfall and every now and then I rubbed my ears to make sure they were still working. My brain grew tired of her talking and I had to hold back the sudden urge to either leave the restaurant or plug Brittney's mouth with a handkerchief.
"No way," Morgan suddenly whispered and caused Brittney to stop mid-sentence.
"Excuse me?" Brittney said confused. She probably thought the thing, she was talking about was pretty normal.
"It's Andrius," Morgan said and both Brittney and I followed her eyes. A few tables away was Andrius, Peter, and a woman most likely in her 50s. Then I recalled what Peter told me earlier today. That woman is probably his mother. She looks like she really likes Peter...why does he want me to call him by a different name...what was it again? Charlie? She seemed like a woman that could be great friends with Brittney because they both had that fun-loving look in their eyes.
"Yeah so?" Brittney said irritated
"They are with Peter's mother..." Morgan said but her incomplete answers were also beginning to get on my nerves too.
"And... why does getting gossip out of you feel like hammering a nail. You only go so far each time." Brittney said and I tried to suppress a smile.
"I can't believe a gossip girl like you hasn't heard of the fact that Peter and his mother do not get along."
"They seem to get getting along fine to me," Brittney said
"That is only because...Peter pretends he is his twin brother Charlie."
"Why? Won't Charlie be angry?"
"Charlie...died Brittney," Morgan said, "Peter doesn't want his mother to feel sad so he pretends he is Charlie..."
"That's complicated..." I whispered as I watched them interact. Peter does seem a bit uncomfortable...
Andrius was talking to Peter's mother while Peter just leaned back in his chair looking absentmindedly around the room. Peter's gaze slowly traveled and suddenly landed on me causing me to turn away quickly.
"Peter told me the other day that his mom was coming over and if I meet her, I have to address Peter as Charlie. I was confused, but now I guess I know why," I said
"Yeah," Morgan said
"Why are we still on this topic? Is it like we are planning to talk to them or something?"
"You know Brittney, you need to open up and make more friends. That friend group of yours has not grown for three years." Morgan said,
"I am happy with my current friend group. I don't want to make friends with everyone in the world,"
"You know if you are going to become an actress, knowing people is important that way you get to the top easier. "
"I don't know, I agree with Brittney. I'd rather have three friends that I trust than a whole world of friends." I sighed
"Whatever, suit yourselves." Morgan said,
"You see Eva, Morgan has that kind of personality where she...has difficulty being completely alone or being in a crowd with no one to talk to."
"I can tell." I laughed, "I don't think I have ever seen Morgan alone."
"Can you two maybe do this kind of gossiping when the person you are talking about is not present and paying for the meal."
"Sorry bestie," Brittney smiled cheekily
"You see Eva, the only person I ever regretted associating with is Brittney,"
"You're no fun," Brittney said while Morgan and I laughed
"And you started it," Morgan retorted happily
"So, what next? Continue spilling secrets about each other to Eva,"
"Please don't," I said, "My headache might come back,"
"See Brittney, your chattering makes Eva get a headache."
"No, I think it is your loud voice that gives Eva a headache."
I laughed as the two began a death stare staring contest. I turned around unconsciously searching the room and found Peter looking at our table again. Maybe he wishes he were having fun chatting instead of putting up a play and pretending to be someone else.
