I gently lifted Morgan's feet onto her bed and slipped off her shoes. Then unplugged her earbuds and turned off her iPod. When I got back from the dining hall, I found her knocked out cold, her snores filled the room as she laid on Brittney's bed. I sat on my bed and looked around the room. It was still a mess of fabric and thread all around the room, but her dress was almost done. I decided to start helping her put away the fabrics and cleaning up the room. Then my phone rang. I flipped it open and heard a female voice on the other end who sounded like she was having a severe cold.
"Hello Brittney? Are you alright?" I said concerned
"Hi Eva..." she sniffed
"What happened?"
"I got put on the wait list..." then a loud sob interrupted the call, "guess they found their main lead..."
"Ooh," I said, "w-what now?"
"Oh, I probably am going to go back to school...tomorrow...or maybe in two days..."
"Oh, um...okay...we can go out for coffee or something and we can talk some more!" I said trying to sound hopeful
"Yeah..." a loud sniff, "enough about me, how are you?"
"I'm alright, everything was pretty normal today," I said while a voice in my head whispered other than that conversation...
"That's good. How's Morgan?"
"She...had a rough day too...someone spilled coffee all over the dress she was making, and she spent all day making a new one,"
"Oh dear," Brittney said, "Is she alright?"
"Well, she is almost done, she is currently crashing on your bed. I'm going to let her sleep for a bit before waking her up again,"
"See you got it covered. That's good. Is she over the umm Andrius thing?"
"Not really, she didn't seem to talk much today,"
"Ah...don't worry about it, she will be her normal self tomorrow after she finishes the dress and turns it in."
"Welp, you're the expert seeing that you have been friends for several years,"
"Yep," Brittney made a weak laugh, "I know all her quirks," We laughed for a bit then Brittney said, ""well it was nice talking to you, it made me a lot feel better."
"Of course, no problem!" I said, "have a good night!"
"Thanks, you too," she said, "bye"
"Bye," I said and hung up.
I looked towards Morgan who was soundly sleeping and with a pang of regret I walked over to her and shook her shoulder.
"Morgan? Hey, wake up."
"Hmm?" she said and rubbed her tired eyes, "Oh, hey Eva, thanks for waking me up."
"I saw how much progress you made; it looks amazing!"
"Thanks!" she said smiling
I watched her walk over to her work and resumed sewing some of the parts, "Brittney called earlier,"
"Oh she did? How was the audition,"
"She said she the casting director found the person she wanted so Brittney was sent home."
"Ouch!" Morgan yelped when the needle slipped and poked her finger, "Really?! That's too bad...Brittney must be devastated. Do she mention when she would be back?"
"She said tomorrow or in two days,"
"Hmm..."
"Morgan?"
"Yeah?"
"What do you think we should do?" I said sitting down on my bed
"Let's...oh wait...no..."
"What?"
"Well, I was going to say we could go to the street racing competition, but there is not going to be another for a few weeks."
"Why not?"
"Finals obviously..."
"Oh right...darn I completely forgot..."
"Well, you got plenty of time...anyways..." Morgan stopped working and stared up at the ceiling for a few seconds before gasping, "We could take her to her favorite restaurant!"
"What is her favorite restaurant?"
"You'll find out!" Morgan said with a cheeky grin, "All you have to do is prepare some gifts,"
"Okay..." I said uncertain of what Morgan was planning, but whatever it was Brittney was going to love it...I hope...
