I walked into my bedroom and closed the door behind me locking it with a small click. I turned and was surprised to see Andrius sitting in the leather swivel chair near my desk scrolling on his phone. I quickly put down my glass of water on my nightstand before saying, "I didn't realize you were here; did you want to talk to me about something?"
Andrius did not respond immediately. Instead, he looked at his phone a minute or two longer before putting it back into his pocket. He looked at me, his eyes were two gray pools blank and unreadable as he said, "Actually no." He paused for a moment before continuing in a low murmur, "But I believe you have something to say to me."
I thought silently for a moment. Is he still bothered that I did a sloppy job covering for him? "Sorry about earlier. I realize my excuse was a little weak,"
Andrius sighed, "I get that you were trying to help, but the more lies you make now the more explaining you have to do later."
"I know,"
Andrius smirked softly, "That is where you and Charlie are very different. Charlie always speaks his mind. He was very straightforward and someone you could trust to never betray you."
"Yeah. Don't worry Andrius, I'll reveal the truth soon."
"How soon is this soon?"
I hesitated, "Before the next Circuit race."
"I just want to remind you that the longer you wait the heavier that lie will get."
"I know," I sighed, "I just don't know how to bring it up and I don't know how my mother will react."
"Sometimes you have to be brave and take that risk."
"I-" I stopped as suddenly a knock sounded from my door. It was my mother.
"Hi boys," she said with a wide smile, "I made some cookies, and I was wondering if you guys wanted to come down and have a few."
"Definitely," I said returning her smile and all three of us headed downstairs.
