I silently ate my cookie, feeling the sweet chocolate and warm soft dough melt in my mouth. Andrius sat across from me eating silently his eyes betrayed that he was a thousand miles away. I looked up as my mother approached and placed two tall glasses of milk on the table.
"Thank you!" I said and took a sip of the cold refreshing milk.
"No need to thank me, I'm happy to do it." My mother smiled
I looked at Andrius who was still absentmindedly eating his cookie and said, "Are you alright?"
He looked up, "Yeah,"
I waited for a second to see if he would elaborate, but when he didn't respond, I said, "That's good,"
I was about to say something else when my phone started buzzing. It was Drew. Why is he calling me at this hour? Did something happen? I quickly picked up and was immediately greeted by a loud, "Hello?"
"Hey Drew, what's up?"
"Hey! Are you with Andrius?"
"Yeah why?" I said.
"What? Could you say that again?" he said loudly
"What's with all the background noise?" I shouted back
"Cassio and I came with a couple of friends to The Event."
"That's nice. Did something happen?"
"Davies is here too and now Cassio and Davies are fighting."
"Where's security?"
"Cassio doesn't allow security to break them up. Please come over and help us, I have to go now bye."
The line went blank, and I stared dumbfounded at the phone trying to process what just happened.
"What is it?" Andrius said
"Drew just called and said that Davies and Cassio got into a fight. Cassio doesn't want the security to interfere."
Andrius breathed heavily through his nose, "Another mess to clean up." he muttered, "Come on, might as well go check it out."
"Hey mom, Andrius and I will be right back. We have an urgent errand we need to do,"
"No worries, dear. Remember to stay safe." she said
I followed Andrius to the garage and as we approached the car, he tossed the keys to me. "Drive."
The route to The Event was a 15-minute drive from my house not including traffic lights. Watch the fight be over by the time Andrius and I arrive. I thought to myself.
"Did you get any info on how the fight started?" Andrius said suddenly
"It was probably Davies being a cocky brat as usual."
Andrius sighed, "Being class president sure is a hassle. Don't know why I agreed to it in the first place."
"I'm not sure why either. Just the list of responsibilities is a hassle itself. Nonetheless having to break up fights."
"So only Davies and Cassio are fighting? How many people are at the scene..."
I glanced at Andrius who was seated in the backseat. "If I could guess it is the whole gang on both sides since it is the weekend. So, I guess around 8 people?"
"The thing I don't get is who goes bowling at 11:00 in the evening?" Andrius said with a puzzled expression.
"If you're asking me then who do I ask?"
Andrius smirked, "That is the question..."
"Although Cassio going bowling is not the thing that surprises me. It's the idea that Davies is also there that makes me confused." I spoke
"So, you think it is more than just a coincidence..."
"Yes, what about you?"
Andrius didn't say anything at first then after a few minutes he said, "Why waste time guessing when the amount of information we have is so limited."
"True." I said automatically, "We will be arriving soon so don't worry, your questions will hopefully be answered soon."
"I'm not worrying at all." Andrius said, "The correct phrase would be that I am tired,"
"The feeling is mutual," I said through chuckles.
