When the world exploded, Eden felt pain. Excruciating pain. At first, Eden thought that she was going to die again, the pain was so bad but it faded after a bit.

Eventually, her whole body ached with a dull throbbing pain. Realizing that her eyes were closed, she forced them open.

Eden was lying in a patch of dead grass, surrounded by dead trees. She knew this place. It was Epping Forest, except it was different. It was dying. The foliage was rotting away before her eyes and the air reeked of mold and death.

Eden sat up slowly, wincing in pain. "Hello? Is anyone here?" Eden called out weakly. It even hurt to talk. Her face felt strange but she ignored it as she called out again, "Gabriel? Gabriel? Where are you?" Eden struggled to her feet, brushing dead grass blades off of her soot covered clothes.

When Eden didn't get a reply she took a few shaky steps forward until her steps became steady again.

Eden limped.  For some reason,  her right leg wasn't working like it was supposed to. Strange. Maybe it had something to do with the pain in said leg.

Eden had no idea how long she limped through the dead grass, her blue serpentine gaze searching for a familiar landmark of any kind.

Eden froze when she heard a twig snap. "Hello?" Eden rasped. "Is someone there?"

Eden scanned the treeline and went rigid with fear as a tall, thin figure emerged from the shadows. The figure was dressed in a robe as black as the night sky. Its hands were the bleached white bones of a skeleton.

It's eyes. Actually it didn't have eyes. Two black holes gaped back at Eden. They seemed like they were trying to suck the very soul out of her body.

"Eden Alexandria Queen Fell." The figure rasped. "I've come for you. At long last."

Death. It was Death himself.

Death had finally come for her.

But Eden didn't want to die. She wanted to see Gabriel and her babies again, and see her parents. She wanted to tell them all herself that everything was going to be okay now…..

Eden turned, running deep into the dying forest and didn't look back.
