"You can try to flee but I always get the soul I'm meant to collect." Death said as calmly as the ice cold breeze blew through Eden's hair,  her flame red curls like fire in the dim light.

Eden remembered when Death made his first attempt to take her all those years ago with Lilith. Apparently she was still slated for death even after all this time.

Eden tried to run but it was difficult thanks to her messed up leg. Why was she limping and why was she in so much pain? She glanced over her shoulder and gasped in terror at the sight of Death wielded a scythe. This very sight had haunted her dreams for years and now…..

With a deft swing of the scythe, the blade slashed across Eden's back. Eden cried out in agony as bright red blood splattered the gray dead grass. Eden fell face first on the ground, trembling from the pain and shock.

Eden tried to get up, to maybe run deep into the foliage until she lost Death, but she was too weak. She collapsed onto her side as Death stepped in front of her.

"Nothing personal." said Death as a skeletal hand reached out for her.

One touch and it would be all over…..

"I'm sorry…." Eden rasped as tears stung her eyes. Despite the grief swelling in her chest,  she tried to think of happy thoughts.  She thought of reconstructing an old book with her Papa at the bookshop. Cooking supper with her Daddy. Taking a walk with Gabriel and the children at St. James with the dogs. Walking the trails of Epping with Samwise….holding Kokabiela for the first time, had it really been three months ago? She would never forget the look of joy on Gabriel’s face as he held their new little baby…..

Just as Death was about to place a skeletal hand on her shoulder,  a bright light erupted from above. Death let out an ear splitting shriek and disappeared in a puff of black smoke.

"There we are." A gentle voice said. "He won't bother you anymore, love." Eden looked up and met the gaze of a woman who was smiling down at her. She was tall with light brown hair that almost touched the ground with golden irises. "Up you get now, let's get you somewhere more comfortable."

The woman helped Eden to her feet and even let her lean on her shoulder as her surroundings suddenly changed. The grass was suddenly green and the trees came to life with vibrant green leaves.

The woman helped Eden to sit down on the newly soft grass. "There we are now.  Now you can get some proper rest. You have a family to get back to, remember?"

Eden nodded tiredly. "Yes, yes I do." The woman nodded with satisfaction and continued. "That's the spirit my dear. Just like your Papa, you know. But there's a lot of Crowley in you too, don't forget that." The woman helped Eden to lie down and cradled Eden's head in her lap.

"Sleep now my dearest. Rest and tell that Archangel that he's going to be welcoming another addition to the family very soon." Eden managed a weak smile as she drifted off to a welcoming sleep.
