Jeremy's POV

I can see KJ standing on the sidewalk, holding bags by her side. I pull over quickly in front of the sidewalk and she walks to the car and opens the door. "Hi." I say, letting my hand rest on the steering wheel. "Hi. Thank you for picking me up. It means a lot." I nod and watch as she puts her bags in the backseat. As she reaches over the middle console, her shirt raises up and I see the contour of her stomach. There's a small vine in the shape of a heart right on her hip and I glance over her skin before she sits back down.

I clear my throat as she puts her seatbelt on and I see her smile out the side of my eyes. "Ready?" I ask, putting the car in drive. She nods and places her phone in the cup holder as I pull away from the mall. The first few minutes are quiet and I can see the invisible gears turning in KJ's mind. "Do you think it's selfish for me to want to spend time alone with Bonnie?" I stare at the cars in front of me on the road and answer, "No. Everyone has their preference for how they want to spend time with the people they love. Certain people want words of affirmation or gifts. You want quality time." I glance over at her quickly before looking back at the road.

Her arm is resting on the window and her chin is in her hand. "You always know when to say the right thing." I laugh and glance at my ring reflecting the sunlight through the windshield. "I try." KJ chuckles and looks over at me and comments, "About this morning,-" I shake my head and interrupt her. "Don't worry about it. I've seen Elena sneak Stefan in plenty of times." She laughs and replies, "No, it wasn't like that. We didn't sleep together. He fell asleep last night after we talked for a while and he had just gotten out of the shower."

I nod and reply, "Ah, I see." Is it bad that I'm glad they didn't sleep together? I think. I shake my head slightly to clear my thoughts and focus on getting both of us into the house. The rest of the drive flies by and soon we pull into the driveway.

KJ's POV

When we pull in front of the house, Jeremy takes the keys out of the ignition and gets out of the car. I follow and open the back door to grab the bags but Jeremy already has them in his hands. He looks up at me and I smile back, shutting the door. I take the key from my pocket and open the front door for him. As we make our way into the kitchen, Jer turns and asks, "Where do you want me to put these?"

I laugh and reply, "I can take them upstairs." He puts his arm out and I take the bags from his hands. Our fingertips brush one another but I turn quickly and make my way upstairs. I drop the bags on my vanity and pull off my hoodie. I tug my shirt over my head and put on a black tank top. As I make my way back downstairs, I see Jeremy at the table, pouring some chips into a bowl.

I come up behind him and poke his shoulder with a finger. He chuckles before turning around. "I was gonna watch a movie, wanna join?" I nod and ask, "Which one?" as I grab a Pepsi from the fridge. "Logan." My eyes widen and I say, "Really? I loved that movie when it came out." He turns his head and sits on the couch, grabbing the remote. Jer looks over at me and I pretend not to see him as I pop open my Pepsi. The movie comes on and I fold my legs under myself, getting comfortable.

Damon's POV

I down some more whiskey as I stare at the floor in front of my bed. "Quit brooding." I glance up and see Stefan standing in the doorway, looking over at me. "I'm not brooding, I'm curbing my hunger." Stefan rolls his eyes and responds, "We have plenty of blood bags in the freezer for that. Go grab one." I grimace and throw back the rest of my drink. "I prefer it straight from the vein, thank you very much."

Stefan rolls his eyes and says, "You're awfully picky for a vampire living in a small town." "Both of us have our resources." I respond carefully, looking back at him. Stefan walks out with his hands up and I roll my eyes, blowing air from my cheeks.

"What is KJ doing anyway?" I wonder. I grab my phone off the bedside table and hit her number in my contacts. The phone rings a few times and she picks up on the third.

Hi Damon.

"KJ, are you doing anything right now?"

I'm watching a movie with Jer but I just stepped out. What do you need?

"To feed. But only if you're up for it."

Yeah, I told you I feel fine. Give me about 5 and you can come in through my window.

Okay. Thank you.

Of course. It's what we agreed to and you've been more than understanding.

I smile before hanging up and grabbing my jacket, heading toward the front door.

KJ's POV

"Jer, I'm gonna run upstairs really quick. You can let the movie play." He looks over at me from the couch. "You sure everything's okay?" I nod and tuck my phone into my back pocket before walking up the stairs. Once I get to my room, I shut the door and turn seeing Damon standing by the window. "KJ, are you sure you're up for this?" I nod and squeeze my fist before walking over to him.

"I promise, Damon. I feel fine and I have my magic to help me." He sighs as I sit across from him on the window seat. I slowly move over to him and hold my arm out, leaning back against his chest and closing my eyes. I feel Damon lift up my arm and soon, his fangs sink into my skin.

There's nothing going through my mind, other than counting to distract myself. One, two, three, four, five ... I open my eyes to look back at Damon and I notice the veins under his eyes are more prominent than usual. I bring my other hand up to his eyes and let my thumb run along his eyes. "You put off feeding, didn't you?" He nods once and I sigh as he detaches his mouth from my arm.

Damon's fangs and eyes go back to normal before he says, "I didn't want to bother you. I know that there was the whole thing with Enzo and today I put it off because I know you were supposed to be out with Bonnie, Elena, and Caroline." I press my lips together and turn away from him, letting my hand hover over my forearm. I start the healing spell and watch as my arm returns back to normal.

"I have to head back down or else Jeremy will think I abandoned him or something." Damon laughs and answers, "I'll be up here, not going through your things." I laugh and roll my eyes. "Alright. Just please stay here and try not to mess up my room too much, okay?" Damon nods and pulls off his jacket, laying it next to my pillow. I leave my room and shut the door before walking downstairs. Jer turns to look at me and smiles. "I was starting to think you fell asleep or something." I shake my head and plop down next to him, leaning my head on his shoulder. "Nope. Just got a little sidetracked." He smiles and turns back to the tv before putting his arm around my shoulders.
