Wednesday night came quicker than expected for Maia. She stood in her room that couldn't help but to be a mess when she had the intentions of going out. But this time she was completely at loss for what to wear— Lucky never told the girl where the two of them would be going for this date, she had grown quite the excitement for.
Maia opted for a matching lounge set and a pair of sneakers paired with a thickly knitted cardigan that hung below her knees, she hoped she didn't underdress—not knowing where she would be headed. Glancing at the digital clock that sat on her bedside table, she had realized she was a half hour early and decided to put together her room— though Maia didn't expect it she kinda hoped deep down that Lucky would come back to her place where the two could engage in a more physical activity. The thoughts making her blush instinctively as she wondered what the girl would be like in bed. Maia wanted so bad to ring her friends about the situation but she also wanted to keep the meeting between them two a secret, she never told her friends how she had bumped into Lucky at the hospital a few days ago.
They were all there to witness the same tragic event that took place only a week ago, and Maia assumed her friends would criticize her decisions to go out with someone who seemed to be in clear danger. But it excited Maia and left her with a bunch of questions she yearned to be answered, also she couldn't get the girls mesmerizing looks out of her head. Lucky was a mystery Maia was determined to solve.
After putting the last of the clothes back in her closet, Maia glanced at the clock again realizing it was now seven and Lucky would be arriving to get her shortly. Maia hurriedly put back anything that was out of place and grabbed the tote that sat on her vanity chair. Turning the lights off in her apartment— her phone began to ring, a photo appearing of Lucky that she had sent after Maia insisted the importance of a contact photo.
"Hello" she answered while locking the door to her apartment behind her and continuing towards the steps that were located down the hall.
"Come outside" the familiar melodic voice spoke into the phone— within seconds Maia was downstairs and inside the the expensive car Lucky pulled up in. Maia admired the red leather interior of the car as she nervously looked around now being in the breath taking woman's presence. Noticing Maia fidgeting in her seat Lucky placed her lightly bruised hand on her thigh rubbing circles with her thumb in attempt to soothe her. Maia's stomach began to flutter with the usual feel of butterflies Lucky always unknowingly gave her.
"You don't have to be nervous around me" Lucky spoke soothingly locking her eyes with Maia's.
Maia gave Lucky a soft smile letting her know she was fine with her to pull off. Getting onto the road Maia had finally noticed the black and blue bruises that seemed to wrap around Lucky's knuckles, she watched the girls hand on her lap intently with questions rushing through her mind of why the girls hands were so badly bruised.
"What happened to your hand?" Maia asked quickly not thinking of it.
Lucky cleared her throat a bit thrown from the girls question that echoed over the soft music that played through the stereo. "I punched someone in the face" she answered nonchalantly— not taking her eyes off the road.
Maia took a second to digest the words that left Lucky's mouth. She pondered on what could've ticked her off to have to do such a thing. "Why?"
"We're almost there, all those questions that fill that beautiful head of yours will be answered soon"
Maia sat back in her seat watching the woman who gripped the wheel with her left hand — while the other still placed on her thigh, even after she had mentioned the bruises to her. Lucky's face was unreadable as Maia gazed at her intently taking in all the beautiful perfections of the woman. Her hair was held with gel in spiked like twist— her straight hair stretching down her her perfectly chiseled cheekbones. Her black muscle tee hugged her body perfectly, showing her slim fit figure.
