A Love That Kills

Three weeks had past of the girls getting to know each other, and each day they spent together they couldn't seem to get enough— they found themselves together everyday not wanting to leave the others side. They had grown inseparable in the short span of time.

"About time we get to see you stranger" Raquel rolled her eyes after watching her best friend get lost in her thoughts for what seemed like the fifth time today.

"The sex must be that good huh" Angie giggled while taking a bite of a fry she held in her fingers. The girls were out for their weekly brunch— Maia had finally showed up, after the three weeks she spent dodging her friends spending all her free time with Lucky.

Maias face scrunched at Angie's remark, waving her off acting as if she was disgusted with the words her friends just said. "For your information we've haven't even had sex yet"

"Ohh so there is a someone?" Raquel wiggled her brows in excitement. Maia sighed realizing what she let slip from her mouth and knew she couldn't hold back from her friends anymore, she watched as their faces beamed with excitement— the idea that Maia was getting some action. The two girls demanded she spill all the tea she had immediately.

Maia held her cup to her mouth drawing the straw between her lips sipping the sour taste of the lemonade flavored drink that she ordered. "So you remember, say about a month ago" Maia paused looking at her friends hoping they'd catch the hint but it clearly went over their heads so she had no choice but to continue, "remember the girl who gave me her number, then somehow ended up nearly bleeding to death in your car" Maia quickly said, pointing at Raquel smiling sheepishly.

Raquel's eyebrow raised and Angie continued to watch Maia quietly. Both the girls held unreadable expressions on their face, making it hard for Maia to tell if they were displeased with her decisions. She waited for the girls ridicules that took forever to come.

"Girllll!" Raquel exclaimed, her hand coming to her mouth as it dropped open— Maias eyes moved to the dark girl who's hair was now cut into a bob and colored a burnt orange, her mouth dropped open the same way as Raquel's.

"You know, I can't say I didn't expect it" Raquel finally spoke, her tone amused from what she had heard.

"But wait there's more, so lift those jaws back up"

Maia went on to explain how Lucky was also apart of the Mafia— which was the reason for that scene a month ago, which she also explained was the doing of a crazy ex. Maia watched as the girls jaws dropped wider, as if that was possible considering it had already dropped as low as the table they sat at.

"That's kinda hot, not gonna lie" Angie blurted out breaking the awkward silence that filled the atmosphere around the girls. They all looked at each other— erupting in laughter around the table, causing a few people to glance in their direction from the commotion.

"Shhh" Maia hushed holding her finger to her lips still letting out small laughs. It took them a second to gather themselves and Raquel decided it was her turn to finally speak.

"As long as she doesn't hurt you, or get you caught up in bullshit, I like her for you— a plus from the bitch of a girlfriend you had before" Raquel spoke letting the last part grit through her teeth at the mention of the girl who left me broken. "And try not to move so fast, I don't wanna see you get hurt again babe" Raquel continued, softly pouting her lip.

"If you like her I love her" Angie beamed at Maia. Maia felt relieved that her friends now knew the woman who she filled most of her days with recently, it was as if a weight lifted off her shoulder— now being able to spill her recent endeavors out to her friends.

The girls chatted amongst themselves, occasionally asking Maia questions about the intensity of what Lucky did, and Maia answered as best as she could letting them know that whatever she spoke about must stay between them.
