When we arrived in New Orleans, I walked into the Mikaelson compound behind my mother. Intentionally falling behind her. It was nighttime, and being in the car all day as she lectured me- the lecture began when we stopped for lunch- had emotionally exhausted me. I set my stuff down on the table in the courtyard, and scan the large room. On the second floor, I watched my Aunt walk towards the stairs and come down to meet us.
"Alice." Freya greeted me warmly. I didn't reply, slumping into the chair at the table. Freya looked at Caroline. "How was the trip?" My mother shook her head and gave Freya a little hug in greeting.
"It's probably a good idea to do a boundary spell on the compound." Caroline told Freya. I crossed my arms over my chest and met Freya's gaze.
"That bad, huh?" Freya's lips turned into a wince. "Alice can break whatever spell I use." My Aunt admits. She learned that from underestimating me the last time I was in serious trouble and she tried to use magic to control me.
"Don't worry. I won't go anywhere." I say, lying through my teeth. My Mum looked at me with venom.
"I can tell when you're lying. I'm your mother."
"Respectfully, you can't tell when I'm lying." I argued. "I've lied to you dozens of times and you remain to be unaware to this day." I was more irritated than anything else.
"This isn't a vacation Alice. You're in trouble." Caroline reminds me. I look over as someone walked through the doors and joined us in the courtyard. A smile splits her face open and the brunette woman walked over and hugged me where I sat.
"Aunt Hayley." I greet her, reciprocating the hug.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were at school." Hayley looked over at Caroline, the expression on her face, and then back at me. I sheepishly avert my eyes. "What did you do this time?"
"She hosted a blood feast and sired two vampires." Caroline spoke for me. Hayley's eyebrows came together.
"What did Klaus say?"
"Oh he told me she was having a party." Caroline explains. Hayley snorts in amusement. That's about what she expected. The hybrid was quiet for a few seconds.
"Well it wasn't just her, was it?" She wonders. Caroline turned her head at Hayley, prompting her to continue. "Blood feasts have servants. Compelled humans that are only there for the night and then are compelled to forget in the morning. Alice isn't a vampire, but I can't imagine she would host a blood feast without compelled humans."
I clench my jaw. Damn you Hayley. My mother held her hands up.
"That's right. Who compelled the servants?" She asked me. I shrugged. "Alice Forbes-Mikaelson tell me right now who you had compel the servants."
"It could've been anyone Mum. Damon Salvatore. Kol Mikaelson. Any of the vampires at the school. What are you going to do? Drive back to Mystic Falls and drill every vampire in town until they confess? Not to mention the fact that the servants were probably compelled by multiple vampires throughout the party." I huff. "It's not a big deal. Only a handful of them actually died and I made sure that they wouldn't turn."
All eyes were on me. Caroline clenched her jaw. "Mystic Falls residents died-"
"No, they were guests from out of town. Vampires brought them. And like I said, very few died. They could have all turned, but they didn't."
"How many died?" Hayley wondered, but her tone wasn't an attack.
"Seven or eight. Something like that." I reply. Hayley considered it for a moment, and looked at Caroline.
