"Just fucking tell me what it is." Matt sighed over his phone.
"Nah, you gotta see for yourself," I replied.
I didn't want to reveal what I had created over the phone, I wanted my friends to see it in person.
"Fine, I'll get everyone together and we'll be at your house soon," Matt said with a slightly annoyed tone.
"Aight, see ya." I happily replied.
"See ya."
He hung up so I just had to wait for him and everyone else. While waiting I went back to the garage where the device I made was left. I would have had it hidden somewhere else, but since my family was staying in a cabin for the next few days I was fine with being a bit laid back with my project.
I grabbed the device off the counter I left it at and started to check how much power was left and whether or not the buttons would work. I didn't want things to go wrong when I showed it off to my friends. After I made sure everything properly worked I set the device off to the side and sat down.
I looked around my air-conditioned garage as I waited for my friends. Everything was cleaned up and organized as usual, I tried to keep things in the best condition possible for when I do other things like making knives and hatchets out of whatever scrap metal I can get my hands on.
The minutes went by until I heard the doorbell ring. I stood up and left the garage to go get the door. I opened it and saw all three of my friends waiting for me.
"What's the surprise you got for us?" My friend Issac asked.
"Come see for yourself," I said while leading them to the garage.
"I hope it's drugs." Matt joked.
We entered the garage and I grabbed the device. I held it up to my friends and one of them, Pat, sighed.
"Bro, was in the middle of watching a show and you bring me over here for a glorified boom box?" He said with disappointment.
"What type of boom box did you see with prongs sticking out its side?" I asked.
"I don't know bro. Where did you even get that?"
I smiled and asked, "Do you remember how that one lab near Edmonton was burnt down by one of the employees?"
"Yeah, the employee went rogue and set things on fire which caused some explosive stuff to blow up," Issac replied.
"Yeah, that's correct. Anyways, I was at my dad's house a bit before summer started, and since his house is near where the lab was burnt down I snuck out at night to look around. I found some stuff that wasn't too damaged like a water bottle, tools, parts, and other things that didn't really catch my eye. That's when I found a wall safe that had a hole in the side of it it."
"What idiot put that machine in a wall safe?" Matt asked.
"This wasn't in the wall safe," I explained. "The wall safe had some burnt money and some money that was untouched, and this USB I brought back home. The USB had information about tests, blueprints, and many other things relating to this device."
"So you took the time to make that I'm guessing?" Pat questioned.
"Yeah, I used the tools and untouched parts I found in the burnt-down lab to start building the device. After a while, I finally made this one that actually works as intended." I explained. "When I actually got it to work-"
"Yeah, ok, whatever." Pat interrupted. "Just show us what it does."
I looked at the device and said, "Alright, fine."
