"So we're fucked is what you're saying?" Issac asked to clarify things.

We were walking down a dirt road away from the town we came from, and I'm telling him and Pat about the badger following us.

"Maybe, I don't know. All I know is that some female badger has been following us from the village and she's armed with a musket."

"Do you think she wants to kill us?" Pat asked.

"Probably not," I replied. "she had the chance to kill us quite a lot. She could've killed me when we first met in the bedroom, she could have shot us while we were sleeping in the forest, or she could have even shot us while we were walking down the road for the last who knows how many hours today."

"Then why would someone like her be following us?" Issac questioned.

"If my knowledge about anthros is correct from the stuff I watch, she's in heat and wants a mate." Pat theorized.

Issac sighed and said, "Jesus Pat, that's not her goal. No anthro would have any reason to fuck human."

"I mean, that one lynx I fought tried to mind control me into a slave." I chimed in.

"I guess you're right. Oh fuck, I forgot mind control existed. And it doesn't work on us." Issac said with surprise.

I never really thought about that. After the fight, I was more focused on getting out of there and warning the bobcat than the whole magic aspect or how I was almost made into to female lynx's personal slave.

"When she tried to use the magic on me it felt like a head rush," I explained.

"Anything else you felt? Thoughts about how good she was or anything?"

"Nope, just a headrush. I'm not sure why it didn't work though, she seemed pretty confident it would control me."

"We're from another world and we're humans, not anthros." Pat explained. "They're probably used to mind-controlling anthros, not us."

"Maybe. So we can rule out mind magic controlling us. That's something we know but the anthros don't."

As we walked down the road I kept on looking back behind us to see if I could spot that one badger following us. I didn't see anything which I wasn't sure if I should be thankful for or not. Not seeing her would either mean she's not following us anymore or she's really good at hiding.

If I did spot her though, I'm not even sure what I would do. None of us would shoot her since we all don't want to kill. She hasn't hurt us yet even when given the chance, so she's a threat but not a threat as well. Next time I see her I'm just going to tell her we won't hurt her and ask her what she wants.

"How long do you think it will be before we reach the city we were told about?" Pat asked.

"I don't know. It could be anywhere from a day's worth of walking to a few days of walking." Issac guessed. "After that, we still need to get to the coast and look around for the leader's base."

"Can't be worse than the Terry Fox a few years ago." I joked.

"Oh fuck I forgot about that, there was still frost on cars and stuff when the run started and the winds picked up pretty damn heavily," Pat exclaimed.

"Yeah, that day fucking sucked. It was so goddamn cold. Fighting off sharks in a little boat would be preferable." Issac added. "At the very least Matt kept our spirits up with his dumb jokes. That was probably the only thing that kept me somewhat happy during that."

"I guess that was nice," I somberly agreed.

My mood dropped after being reminded about Matt. He could be getting harmed by the anthros or something at the moment, and here we are slowly going after him. If we fail at saving him it's going to be devastating for everyone. Matt is going to spend who knows how much of his life in this world, me and my friends are going to feel guilty for not saving him, and his family is going to feel depressed since one of their kids is lost. Fuck it will be horrible.
