I woke up in my sleeping bag and looked around. Issac was still sleeping and Pat was sitting on his bed with his musket next to him. He was staring into the fire and had his music quietly playing. When I sat up he looked over at me and then back to the fire.
"Good morning," I said as I stretched and got out of my sleeping bag.
"You too." Pat quietly replied.
I looked around and figured it was a few hours before noon. I would have checked my phone but with how weird the time system is between the two worlds my phone's clock hasn't moved. I checked out the meat that was smoking overnight and it seemed to be done. I grabbed a few strips and started to eat them as the two of us sat around.
As I was chewing on the jerky I noticed Pat was looking a bit conflicted. I was concerned so I asked, "Is everything good?"
Pat stopped staring at the fire and looked over to me before saying, "No."
"What's wrong?"
"I've been thinking about everything on this trip. We've almost been killed a few times and we've seen someone get killed right in front of us. I kinda want to leave, but I also want to stick around for this adventure. This world is new, there's magic, medieval stuff, and anthros and stuff. I like it all and want to experience more of it but I don't want to die or see one of you guys die."
I understood where he was coming from so I replied, "Yeah, I know. Leaving would be the safest option for us, but we've come all this way and we're so close to the finish line."
"What? Finding Matt?"
"Yeah, we're almost at the city. Once we get there we just need directions to the coast then we can find the revolutionary base and Matt."
"What if he's not there? Would we still have to stay and look for him?"
"If he's not there for whatever reason, he shouldn't be too far away. We'll find him, I know we will. I don't care if there's an army guarding him or even some dragon or whatever they have here in this world, we will get him back soon."
Pat was quiet for a few moments before asking, "What if we arrive and Matt is dead?"
I thought for a few seconds before saying, "He's not, I know he isn't. Humans are rare and since the revolutionaries are part of a slave business, they would keep him around until some rich buyer could actually afford him. He's too valuable to kill."
"Then why do the revolutionaries we meet try to kill us?"
"They only do that after we ignore their demands to give up peacefully, Matt is already captured he'll be fine. I just hope they aren't abusing him or giving him horrible treatment."
Pat nodded and laid back in his sleeping bag. He closed his eyes, probably to try and get a little sleep before we continue our trip today. I sat around for about an hour before Issac woke up. He and I packed everything up together before we woke up Pat to leave. We mounted our horses and started our trip of the day.
We trotted our way down the road, the trees around us slowly becoming more abundant until everything looked like the forests from when we first entered this world. The next few hours passed as we trotted down the road.
I looked around to try and see any sort of interesting animals. Same stuff as usual like deer and birds that were common to see. I noticed another one of those black jays watching us again. I kinda wanted to try and capture it alive and bring it back home as a pet since it was cool, but that would be a bad idea for many reasons.
I tried to spot some plants instead and noticed more of those black mushrooms, some flowers that seemed to have bloomed bigger, and some more of those strawberries. We didn't have time to pick them up as we continued heading down the road.
