After Nene woke up the next morning, she looked out the window to find frost coating the pane. It was only October 23rd, too.

'Huh. It's only about a week from Halloween..' she thought to herself. 'I wonder what my costume should be..' She decided that that was a good way to spend today, since she had finished all her chores a few days prior.

She went upstairs to her bedroom and sat in the cozy alcove where her desk sat, tapping her pen against her mouth.

"Well..last year I was a witch, so maybe I should also do something supernatural again?" She looked down at her paper and started a bullet point.

•ghost

•witches cat ('To match with last years,' she thought.)

And finally,
•vampire.

"Well, I suppose I could do a vampire. It's the easiest to make, after all."

So, she spent the rest of her day making a costume. She cut up an old jacket she had for the cape, a short black skirt with fishnets, fangs, of course, and a red and black corset.

Okay, maybe it was a little extra. But still, maybe she liked extra. And the fact it was completely opposite from her usual aesthetic. Why did she own a black and red corset, again?

The sun was beginning to set, and Nene stood up abruptly, realizing she hadn't eaten anything today.

After a dinner of roasted turkey, (not the whole thing ☠️) she went out through her back door and sat on a picnic basket near the pond, the grass damp, watching the ducks glide gracefully through the water.

As she sat on the lawn, she laid down on her back and began to think.

She wondered if somewhere out there, there was someone for her. A princely man who would sweep her off her feet and treat her nicely.

Of course, that was unlikely. She never thought she was that attractive, with her large ankles and the fact that she had very few friends.

She sighed, wondering if she would be alone her whole life. Sure, she had Aoi, but she was quite far from where Nene lived and it wasn't the easiest to hang out.

Nene realized she was shivering and sat up. The temperature had dropped a few degrees from when she had first came out. And it was going to be winter soon, so the nights would be coming sooner. Darkness spread over her home, casting the light reflecting from the moon across the pond.

She hurried inside and wrapped herself in a blanket, struggling to find warmth.

Amane sat on his windowsill in his bedroom, watching the sun rise. Normally, he wasn't up this early. But he woke up at around 4 A.M. last night and couldn't fall back asleep, so instead he propped himself by the window and waiting for his brother, Tsukasa, to wake up.

"Mmnh..why are you awake already?" Tsukasa asked, sitting up from his bed. "This is probably the earliest you've ever woken up."

He wasn't wrong about that, Amane usually slept in really late. "Are you sick or something?" he teased.

"Nah. Just couldn't go back to sleep."

"Wanna have a picnic?"

Tsukasa paused. "..With you?"

Amane rolled his eyes. "Well, never mind then, asshole. So much for trying to be nice."
