It was now November 22nd, three days before Thanksgiving. They were planning to have their Thanksgiving dinner at Kou's house, so that they could all help him with dinner.
For the recent weeks, they had just lazed around, not really doing anything eventful. Sometimes they hung out, but they just watched movies or sat around.
"Okay, so I've gotten the list of ingredients my mom said I needed to get at the market," Kou read out to the rest of the group who were sitting on his floor.
"We need a couple things from different stores, so if it's possible, do you guys think we can split up to save time?" Everyone nodded, only half paying attention.
"Alright then, since there's 7 of us, I'll split us into a pair of 3 and two pairs of two." He stated.
"Actually, I won't be going. I have some stuff to do," Mitsuba was actually just watching TV.
Kou sighed and ran his hand down his face. "Okay, fine then. How about.." Nene saw his eyes flick to Aoi but quickly back to the rest of the group. "Nene and Amane, how about you two go out for the turkey?"
Amane avoided Nene's eye contact, turning towards the wall. "Ahah.." Nene awkwardly chuckled and rubbed the back of her head. Don't get them wrong, they were friends, but being alone was a little nerve-wracking.
"What's wrong? The butcher shop isn't that far.. I can have you get some vegetables instead." Kou played dumb.
"It's fine, are we going to head out now?" Amane cut in. Nene snuck a glance as he spoke, before quickly turning away. Amane pretended not to notice and kept talking, trying to avoid his face growing red.
"Sure, it's not far. Just be back before night, okay?"
The two of them made their way to the door, reaching out for the handle at the same time. Their hands touched, Nene quickly retracting her hand and shoving it in her pocket.
They walked in silence for a bit, until Amane stopped by a sign.
"They've opened a new shop yesterday, it's right around the corner. Do you wanna check it out, since we still have a bit of time until nightfall?"
Nene looked at the sign, it was a wooden post with black marker scribbled on it.

Nene hummed an agreement, turning towards the direction it pointed. They walked around the bend, seeing a small café tucked in between two larger shops.
The bell on the door jingled as they walked in, alerting the single barista of their entry.
"Hello! What can I get you two?" They adjusted their pin on their apron as they spoke.
"Hmm," Nene leaned forwards to read some of the ice cream names, deciding on a 'rainbow sherbet' because she thought the colors were pretty. Amane just got chocolate.
The barista motioned their hand towards an two-person table in a corner, shaded a bit by a tall fern. The two thanked them and took a seat.
"Hmm~ the view is very pretty from here." Nene commented, looking out the large window they were sat next.
Amane agreed with her, the café was situated on a short street overlooking a side of the woods, the only thing separating them from the trees being a short trickling stream with pebbles dotting the edges.
