Ron and Hermione see the first years off in the Gryffindor common rooms. The two look at one another with smiles on their faces. "Reckon we will have a few adventurous first years who will try to sneak off into the night?" Ron wears a playful smile as Hermione scoffs and shakes her head. "I hope not. We don't need them to follow our footsteps." Hermione snickers under her breath.

The two wear smiles on their faces recalling past memories. The two and Harry had snuck out late into the night their first day they arrived in Hogwarts and had nearly gotten into trouble. "Where is Harry anyway? He wasn't with me." Ron looks around the common room with a raised eyebrow. Hermione who seems to always have an answer, begins to walk towards the door to exit the common room.

"He hurried off to follow Y/N." Hermione opens the door and Ron follows after her. Speaking of the devil, Harry is running towards the duo. Both Hermione and Ron wear a look of bewilderment when they see Harry huffing and puffing. Usually if Harry is running, it means danger. But they only spot Y/N who's clutching onto her chest while hunching over to catch her breath.

"Potter!" Y/N breathlessly call out to the boy who's now hiding behind Hermione and Ron. "What did you do to rile her up?" Ron looks over at Harry who's chuckling and gasping for air. Harry responds, "Just playful banter."

Hermione raises an eyebrow when she looks at Harry before casting her eyes over to Y/N who tirelessly walks up the staircase. "Seems to me that you're the only one having fun." Hermione giggles when she looks back at Harry behind her. Y/N straightens herself up, eyeing the boy who's hiding behind their two friends. But she doesn't say a word at first which creates an intense atmosphere for Hermione and Ron who are clueless to their chase.

Your eyes fall from Harry to look at Ron and Hermione who proudly wear their head boy and head girl pin. A smile laces on your face when you look at the two. "Congrats on being head boy and head girl of Gryffindor." The two smile from ear to ear and Hermione thanks you. You then avert your eyes over to Harry with a serious stare. Harry winks with a finger over his lips to promise you he won't tell.

"I should return to my common room before Filch chastises me." You speak softly as you look over your shoulder. Ron parts his lips to speak up before you walk up another flight of stairs. "I'll come with. As a prefect and head boy, I should make sure all students return to their dorms." Your heart sways at Ron's offering. Despite him not having to do so when you're not part of the Gryffindor home.

"Ron? Oh Ron!" Everyone's face grows pale when they hear the very tone of Lavender Brown. You notice Lavender make eye contact with you from across the tunnel behind the door. The Fat Lady on the painting then speaks up. "Oh how much longer are you all going to loiter in front of the entrance! Close this door at once!"

Harry shoves Ron forward as him and Hermione quickly close the door so it's just you and Ron now. "Let's get going before Lavender chases after me." Ron slurs his words as he walks ahead of you. You hurry behind him as the two of you walk up the flight of stairs. The two of you halt at the top of the stairs waiting for the next one to slowly make it's way over.

"So...why were you chasing after Harry? You wore a panicked expression." Ron speaks up, his eyes casting over to his right to look at you. You refrain from looking at Ron directly. Pursing your lips, you clutch onto the hem of your skirt and grow silent. What should you say? It's not as though you can tell Ron the honest truth.

You startle when you feel the touch of fingertips running through your hair. Ron wears a serious expression when you finally look at him. "Your hair is a mess." Ron whispers under his breath. You forget how to breath as you're too captivated by Ron.

You only speak up when his eyes rest on yours. "And yours has grown quite long since the last time I saw you." Ron removes his hand from your hair to run through his own, an awkward chuckle leaving his lips. "Do you not like it? I think I look cool. Fred and George grew their hair out that one year too."

"No...I like it." You answer truthfully. Your heart racing from your response to Ron. The redheaded boy smiles widely and gives you a nudge forward when the staircases align. Your mind wanders as the two of you silently walk side by side. Is this a good time to ask Ron what he thinks about you? Since the two of you are on a topic about appearances.

A voice speaks from in front of you and Ron, pulling you out of your inner thoughts. "I believe your dorm room is behind you Ron Weasley." Upon you stands Professor Snape. He looks as unapproachable as usual. Ron gulps when he nervously parts his lips to respond to Professor Snape.

"I'm just making sure Y/N gets to her dorm." Ron glances over to you and Snape casts his attention towards you as well. You nod your head to Ron's words. Snape slowly draws his eyes back to Ron, eyeing his robes. "As kind as that offer is, you're head boy and the prefect of Gryffindor. I'm sure Miss Y/L/N is capable enough to walk herself to her Ravenclaw dorms. Return to your common room Ron."

Ron parts his lips slightly to say something but you give his cloak sleeve a tug. The two of you look at one another and you quickly flick your eyes to the side. Silently you usher Ron to go back. You watch his face fall and he lets out a sigh. "Yes sir." Ron mumbles before waving a quick goodbye to you and turning his heel back to where he was earlier.

You watch Ron leave before feeling an intense stare coming from Professor Snape. You lower your head when he mumbles under his breath. "I better not catch you going anywhere else asides your common room Miss Y/L/N." Snape then leaves your side and you feel like you can breath again. Exhaling the breath you hold, you don't dare look back to see where Snape went. You feel as though he hates you and the rest of your friends.

But Snape has his reasons. The four of you cause trouble for everyone at Hogwarts annually. Being friends with Harry has it's consequences. That being the game of life or death constantly against enemies. But you don't regret being friends with Harry. Life at Hogwarts will be too boring without a bit of mischief.
