Ron is storming the halls on a mission. To find the ones who hurt Y/N. The anger within him is boiling over as he envisions how defenseless the girl was. He's completely restless now. Ron's been busy with prefect duties, classwork, and Quidditch practice that he's hardly even said a hello to Y/N. The two would speak frequently but the past three weeks neither have crossed paths till now.
It's bizarre. Y/N would usually bother him despite knowing how busy he was. Did he do something wrong? Or was she waiting for him to find her? There's too many questions that haunt Ron now. If he hadn't been too engrossed with his problems, he might've noticed Y/N's lack of attendance in his life.
What makes Ron feel even worse is that he's been spending more time with Hermione over everyone else. The two prefects to their house, sharing the same classes, and overall the two are inseparable. Just like how it was with Ron and Y/N. This makes Ron realize from a third persons perspective it's as though Hermione has replaced Y/N's place. Ron chews his inner cheek and ruffles his hair wildly.
"Fucking hell Ron. Who even are you?" Ron curses himself under his breath. Lured by the sheer thought of possibly falling in love with Hermione must have blinded him from what truly matters. Ron was not present for Y/N when she needed someone the most.
An annoying laughter cackles down one of the corridors. The sound stopping Ron immediately in his tracks. Turning his heel, Ron storms down the left corridor. There up ahead is Draco having a merry conversation with Blaise Zabini. Without much thought Ron comes storming straight towards the Slytherin boy with a punch to his face. Draco and Blaise are both taken aback from the quick event.
Draco holds a hand to his left cheek with wide eyes. The shock dissolves into one of pure anger. The boy raises his eyes to glare at Ron. "What is the meaning of this Weasley?!" Draco angrily spouts out, his cheek now turning bright red against his pale complexion. Without answering Draco, Ron kicks the boy directly in the stomach making him barrel over in agony. Draco falls on his bum, clutching onto his stomach.
Blaise without a second thought sends a flying punch to Ron's face for hurting his friend without reason. Ron didn't expect Blaise to interfere as he takes the punch with full force. "Lay off Blaise! This is a fight between Draco and I!" Ron glares daggers at Blaise who's winding up for another punch to Ron's face. But Ron side sweeps the tall boy making him fall.
Ron then stomps over to Draco, clutching the boys collar as he raises him up from the ground. Ron's blue eyes stare directly into Draco's light grey ones. "Y/N is rushed to the hospital wing because of your wicked ex-girlfriend!" The words echo loudly in the hall causing nearby students to scurry elsewhere.
Draco squints his eyes at Ron, trying to comprehend the boys words. "Pansy and Lavender fought Y/N who was completely defenseless outside of the castle grounds. It's as though they were waiting for the right moment to pounce on her." The words seethe out of Ron's teeth as he jostles Draco in frustration. "This is your fault Pansy hurt Y/N."
Ron releases his hold against Draco's collar to punch the boy again. But Draco doesn't easily take it like he has with the other punch. Draco himself begins to fight back. Blaise respectfully enough doesn't interfere this time. "You're just at fault Ron Weasley! Didn't you say Lavender Brown was there? You've lead the girl on long enough that she's resorting to harm." Draco shouts out as he lands a punch in Ron's side.
A groan escapes Ron's lips as the boys aimlessly try to hit one another anywhere. "I'll handle that issue as well!" Ron spits out, blood now dripping from his nose and lips. Draco's surprisingly putting up a good fight. The two land a punch on one another's chest.
The two huffing and puffing through their flared nostrils. There's a moment of silence when the two look at one another. "Are you angry because your best friend is hurt or are you angry for other reasons?" Draco asks Ron a question that confuses the boy. Of course Ron is mad because Y/N is hurt.
"Why are you asking me this now? That's not impo--". Ron's words are silenced when Draco punches the redhead square in the mouth. Draco clicks his tongue and wipes his bloody knuckles on his cloak. Draco then kicks Ron off of his feet, kneeing Ron in the stomach to keep him down.
The white blonde haired boy then clutches Ron's collar with one hand. "You're so stupid Ron. Maybe you're blinded by other girls around you. But Y/N is a beauty on her own. If you're unaware let me spell it out for you. There's people who like her the way Lavender and Hermione likes you." Draco huffs out between heavy breaths. He punches Ron in the face quickly before Ron is able to stop him.
"Do you know why I'm not running away for once?" Draco speaks in a deeper tone. Ron's eyes begin to waver when his mind puts two and two together. Anger bubbles within Ron again. He tries his best to push Draco off of his stomach with all of his strength. Ron then punches Draco in the eye.
"Don't you dare say a thing!" Ron's voice trembles with fear. His heart begins to tighten and breathing suddenly becomes difficult. Draco however is not one to listen. Especially if it's Ron who's demanding him to be quiet. Draco groans under his breath as he holds a hand over his right eye.
There's a devilish smirk that plasters on Draco's bruised face. "It's hopeless and I know nothing will come out of it but I do fancy Y/N. Whether or not she hates my guts. I'm sure she'll want me dead once she sees what I did to you. But that's the exciting part about loving someone. The chase Ron Weasley."
The pupils in Ron's eyes dilate when he hears the rubbish coming out of Draco's mouth. Before Ron can lunge another attack on Draco, Blaise finally interferes again. "Lay off Ron. You're both hurt enough! A professor might've been informed of this fight and are heading their way over here. It's best if we all leave before getting in further trouble."
Ron glares at Blaise but the boy is right. Blaise hurries over to help Draco stand up. No more words are exchanged when Draco gives Ron one last glare before he turns his back against Ron. Ron watches the two disappear with an even heavier feeling in his chest. The boy uses the back of his hand to wipe off the blood that trickles down his nose. He then pounds his fists against the stone beneath him.
Fighting Draco did not relieve any of Ron's anger. If anything he's more furious now. Draco's words swarm his mind over and over. The reason why Ron fought back was to protect his best friend. While Draco put up with the fight because of his feelings for Y/N. Both emotions just as strong.
But from Draco's statement should Ron have fought for Y/N because he loves her? Ron casts his eyes down to stare at his bloody knuckles. Love. Y/N. The two words swim in Ron's mind as he sits like this a moment longer before hurrying himself to the hospital wing.
