Christmas morning couldn't come quickly enough. Ron could hardly sleep a wink last night. The boy was too nervous about confessing his feelings to Y/N today. Harry suggested Ron to make her a cup of hot chocolate specially for her when the group of friends exchanged gifts with one another. Neither like the idea tricking Y/N to drinking the Veritaserum but they'll just tell her after. They'll take whatever punishment she has in store for them.
Ron eyes the pink mug on the tray in his hands that he tops off with whip cream and marshmallows. Everyone's already exchanged presents amongst the family. The maroon sweater Ron wears hugs his form. "We'll be upstairs if you need us." Ron calls out to the remainder of his family and Y/N's parents who are chatting in the living room all in matching sweaters made by Mrs. Weasley.
The boy hurries upstairs but not too quickly to spill the cups he carries. Ron arrives in his bedroom where Harry, Y/N, and Ginny are chattering with handful of candies given to them by Fred and George. Ginny grabs ahold of the tray for Ron as he sits down on the floor with the others. "Thanks Ginny." Ron says with a smile. He then divvies up the hot chocolate.
Ron makes sure Y/N receives the pink one. Everyone thanks Ron for their hot chocolate. "Should we start exchanging gifts now?" Ginny claps her hands together with a smile from ear to ear. Y/N nods her head eagerly as she grabs the presents behind her. Ron pulls his luggage out from under his bed to grab the remaining presents for his friends and sister.
Silently everyone places gifts in front of one another. Not a second is wasted when everyone rips open their gifts. It's no surprise when Ron receives even more snacks and knickknacks related to Quidditch and his other favorite hobbies. Y/N spoiled him with his own chess board. Harry who's hardly given gifts welcomes anything he receives. Ginny happily dances in her spot when she's gifted with jewelry from Y/N.
Ron nervously looks over to Y/N who's unravelling his gift for her. The boy thought long and hard on what to get Y/N. Despite being close friends for years, Y/N is difficult to gift. If the girl wanted something she would get it herself. So Ron figured he'll get Y/N something she can't easily buy. Or at least not an exact copy of.
You unravel the sloppily wrapped gift from Ron. It makes you giggle imagining how he struggled to wrap your gift. Pulling the brown string away from the crinkled parchment, you open your present. You're grateful you didn't hastily rip the wrapping apart when you see what lays out in front of you. To your surprise there lays a dried flower bouquet.
Baby breaths and daisies tied with the same brown twine you pulled off the parchment. You wonder if Ron picked the flowers and dried them himself. When would he even have the time to do so? Or how did he even learn to? You raise your eyes over to Ron who nervously avoids your eye contact.
"Oh, that's beautiful! Did you get that for her Harry?" Ginny notices the bouquet in your hands and Harry is quick to shake his head. Ginny's eyes widen when she looks over to her brother who is now flushed in the face. "Ron? You're capable of doing something that sweet?" Ginny jabs at her brother who glares at his sister for embarrassing him.
You raise the back of your left hand over your mouth to muffle your giggles as your heart feels as though it's growing two sizes larger. The sentiment from Ron is sweet. You've only received flowers from your parents. Never from a boy. Especially from a boy you love. "Thanks Ron. I love it." You're careful to hug the bouquet to your chest.
Ron nods, his eyes nervously meeting yours. "They'll last forever as long as you keep them somewhere safe." The boy speaks up with a crinkle to his nose. Harry and Ginny wear cheeky smiles towards Ron. Seeing this side of him is a surprise for everyone.
Everyone tosses the shredded wrapping papers away before returning back in a circle on the floor. "What should we do next? The day is still young." Ginny looks at the group with bright eyes. This will be the ideal time to mention the game you thought of. You already looped Ginny in with your plan.
