Christmas dinner is full of smiles as everyone is eating together in the Burrow. "So, what did you get from Ron, dear?" Your mother hands you a bowl of mashed potatoes as she speaks from across the table. Scooping some mashed potatoes on your plate, you pass it off to Harry who sits to the left of you. Everyone is in their own conversations when you nervously answer your mother.

You glance over to Ron who sits by your right, stuffing his face as usual. You giggle at the boy. "Ron made me a dried bouquet of baby breath's and daisies." Ron chews his food with flushed cheeks when you stare at him with adoration. Your mother gives the boy the same soft gaze. "Well isn't that adorable. Don't you think so love?" Your mother nudges her shoulder against your father who's smiling widely.

"Are you trying to court my daughter, Ron Weasley?" Father eyes Ron behind his glasses. Both Ron and Harry cough in unison which creates a curious look in your parents faces. You drop your gaze down to your plate with pursed lips. Seeing this odd reaction, your father speaks up again. "Did I say something weird?"

"You alright Harry?" Mrs. Weasley pats Harry's back after hearing him still cough. Harry hastily nods his head while chugging a glass of butterbeer down. Ron eyes you and you can feel his gaze burn the right side of your face. It seems as though Ron is asking you to rescue him from the awkward conversation. No one really knows about you two asides Harry and Ginny.

Under the table you nervously grab Ron's hand. The boy jolts slightly in his seat before Ron gives your hand a gentle squeeze. With a smile, you raise your eyes up to look at your father. "Actually..." With a thumping heart you raise yours and Ron's intertwined hands up between the two of you.

You gently squeeze Ron's hand with a flushed face as you announce the happy news. "Ron and I are actually dating now." Once the words leave your lips you feel a great weight lift off your shoulders. Ron looks more relaxed as well when his shoulders droop slightly. But the calm doesn't last for long when there's a loud squeal.

Not from just your parents but from Mrs. Weasley who is overhearing the conversation. "Oh bright days!" Mrs. Weasley says excitedly as she claps her hands. Now everyone is looking at the joyful redheaded woman in confusion. "What's gotten to you mother?" Fred and George both speak in unison, their brows knitting together as they worry over there suddenly energetic mother.

"Ron Weasley and Y/N Y/L/N are finally dating! Do you know how long I've waited for this moment? Mrs. Y/L/N and I swore the two will fall in love the moment they both met for the first time. So who fell in love with whom first?" Mrs. Weasley eyes you and Ron.

You part your lips slightly as you're flushed in the face again. With everyone silently staring and waiting for you or Ron to speak, you suddenly wish to turn invisible. "You're making us embarrassed mother!" Ron argues back. Mrs. Weasley scoffs and waves Ron's rebuttal off, adamant about getting an answer. "Just answer the question! This is very important!"

The two of you lower your hands back under the table. Ron pulls away to gently squeeze your thigh. He purses his lips into a thin line before clearing his throat. Ron is the one to help you out this time. "Y/N. Apparently she fell in love with me since we were eight." Ron's words turns into a soft whisper when his face turns tomato red.

You both look at one another and there's a shine in Ron's eyes when you both make eye contact. There's a few awe's muffled and the curl of smiles on everyone's face. "Darn it!" Mrs. Weasley clicks her tongue as your mother snickers under her breath. "Mrs. Y/L/N and I made a bet at the time and of course I believed you would fall in love with Y/N first."

Both you and Ron glance at your own mothers in disbelief. The two had made a bet on something as sensitive as love? On their own children? That's a very long committed bet. You give them that. "Really mother?!" Ron groans out with a frown. Mrs. Weasley waves him off.
