The vampire's dark eyes had stared at Charlie for a long moment before a growl came from the still body. Slowly, the blonde had regained control of his body, slowly moving first his mouth, then his fingers. In slow motion, his whole body had begun to move, moving towards the dragon rider who really had time to see death coming. Jasper was moving better and better, his speed approaching that of a human. Charlie pushed the chair back as far as he could, until he was pinned against the wall. The vampire followed him. He was only a step away when the door opened.
"JAZ!" yelled Harry.
His two soul mates turned their heads toward him. Charlie's eyes were filled with fear while the vampire's were coal black.
Hermione cast a spell that bound Jasper, causing him to fall to the ground.
"Get him drunk, the ropes won't hold for long," informed the young woman.
"Kreacher, do you have the blood bags?" asked Harry as Ron rushed to his brother.
The elf handed Harry the two precious bags and he wondered how he was going to get his blood into them without spilling it all over the floor of the room. Hermione huffed in annoyance. She cast a spell on the dark-haired man, who felt a twinge in his left arm, but nothing too painful.
"It's okay, go ahead," her friend whispered as she went to lend Ron a hand.
Harry slowly approached the vampire who was trying to free himself from the ropes, his eyes still black, his face contorted with rage. The dark-haired man knelt beside him, calling out softly to him. He put his hand on the white forehead, being careful to stay out of reach of the sharp teeth. The contact seemed to calm the vampire slightly, and he stopped struggling against his ropes and looked at Harry as if he were telling him something, but couldn't remember what. The wizard levitated the first bag of blood to his companion's mouth, relieved to see him bite into it without hesitation.
The Dragonrider had been relieved to see his brother and his two best friends arrive, especially since, as so often, Hermione seemed to be in control of the situation. As the pair cut his bonds, Charlie watched terrified as Harry interacted with the out-of-control vampire. The dark-haired man may not have chosen him, but he still cared about him and didn't want to see him die before his very eyes.
"Can you walk Charlie?" asked Ron.
"I'm not going to walk for miles..."
"Do you need medical attention now?" interjected Hermione.
"It can wait," he said as he stood up and leaned on Ron's shoulders.
"Harry, we have to go."
Jasper had just drunk the two bags of blood, his eyes were back to their honey color, but there were a few red flakes in them and they were still haunted. He felt like he was coming out of a thick fog. He remembered the attack in Alaska, the intense pain and being very thirsty. The rest was a blur, he had felt Charlie's presence, inspiring immense hatred, the smell of blood, then his companion had arrived like a beacon.
"Harry," he breathed in a broken voice. "Go with them, leave me, I'm dangerous."
It was killing him to say that to his companion, but he knew he wasn't in control. However the brunette did the opposite, taking him in his arms and cradling the vampire's head in his neck. The delicious smell of the brown man's blood made him salivate, he began to suck on his skin between his teeth, licking it with desire.
Hermione's voice telling them that they had to leave brought him out of his trance-like state. He recoiled violently as he realized how close he had come to biting his companion.
