Harry turned around when he heard footsteps behind him. He was surprised to find Arthur coming towards him. Suddenly, he felt bad for leaving the meeting like that.
"I am..."
"Especially do not apologize," interrupted Arthur by sitting down beside him. "Especially not, you were absolutely right. Bill doesn't seem to make the distinction between supporting his brother and meddling in your story."
Harry looked at him stunned. He was afraid to understand what the man was implying.
"Charlie?"
He wasn't sure what he was asking, too shocked to formulate a coherent sentence.
"Charlie thought I didn't know, but I've always known, ever since the first night the bond began to form between you," Arthur explained in a sad voice. "I also always knew that despite your bond, it would end badly between you. The fact that you were hiding always made me think that something was going to get in your way and that one of you could sense it. It wasn't something, it was someone and Jasper is a good man, he seems to make you happy."
"Thank you," said the younger man, very touched. "Are you mad at me for leaving Charlie?"
"Oh Merlin, no! I'm sad about Charlie, that's for sure... but I don't blame you."
"Will Charlie get over it?"
"I hope so, but that's not the point. I know one who's anxious to see you."
Harry touched his pockets and realized he didn't have his cell phone.
"Yeah, I guess he must not be well," he admitted, but he didn't move.
"Look Harry, no one in the family has anything to say about you becoming his chalice, not even Bill. I consider you one of my sons and all that matters is your happiness."
Harry hugged Arthur and the two of them apparated to the border where Jasper, Edward and Emmett were waiting for them. All three of them flinched, which amused both wizards, however the look of relief and concern on the blonde's face stopped Harry to laugh openly. He thanked Arthur again and the redhead left to return to his fiefdom with Edward and Emmett.
As soon as they were alone, Jasper pulled Harry into his arms, burying his nose in the unruly hair.
"Don't do that again," he whispered.
"Do what?"
"Cross the border when your emotions and our bond are screaming at me to find you."
"Sorry, Bill pissed me off, I left on a whim without my phone."
"I know, I almost took his head off."
Harry peeled away from his companion and gave him a concerned look.
"Everyone's fine!" the vampire immediately defended himself with a small smile.
"I think Arthur will talk to him, he knew all along about Charlie and I."
Jasper felt a pang in his heart. He had no doubt that Harry wasn't going back to his ex, but he feared that the Weasley patriarch would get in the way.
"He's totally supportive, don't worry," Harry reassured him as he followed his train of thought. "And you, how did it go?"
Jasper huffed, he took his companion's hand and led him through the woods to a small pond where he liked to sit.
"Rosalie is against it," he explained as they walked, "only Esme is really for it. The others are undecided. Carlisle will talk with your family to get a better idea."
