Chapter 10

Macaque got a text from Y/n, it was just a simple address to what he could tell, a new place to stay. At the time he ignored it. He didn't exactly want to see Y/n at the moment, he was still pretty angry, but to be honest it wasn't really Y/n he was angry at.

He's angry at himself, the world, and that wretched bone demon...He knows he's gonna have to leave for the safety and protection of Y/n. But he also knows how much anxiety they feel when he leaves for too long, the fear of abandonment is strong with Y/n. Even if they like to deny it...

What he did wasn't the best move on his part, but he didn't want to snap at Y/n. He just needed a breather, a break. But after hours of seemingly just moving across the buildings, it was time to go back.

Following the address the Y/n gave him he used his shadow portal to pop up into an apartment room. He frowns as he see's a passed out Y/n on a couch who mumbled in their sleep.

"Jeez kid....how late did you stay up waiting for me..." Macaque mutters to himself as he crouched down to wear Y/n laid. He sighs as he ruffles their hair gently as he stood up again.

He picked them up and went into a room where a bed was and he summoned his shadow clones to pull back the blankets so he could set Y/n down. He watches as Y/n immediately turned and cuddled up to their pillow smiling in their sleep.

"Pfft-" Macaque chuckles as he took out his phone and took a picture to use as blackmail in the future. He finally covered them with a soft blanket and left them to sleep.

"Goodnight kid." He mutters to mostly himself as he walked back to the couch and laid there with an exhausted sigh.

He suddenly flinched has an ear-piercing ringing traveled through his six ears. He groaned as he now has a headache due to the ringing and went to see if Y/n had any aspirin in the bathroom.

When he walked into the bathroom he paused as he stared at himself in the mirror. A sudden shiver went up his spine as his whole body felt cold. He widen his eyes as his golden eyes started fading into a blue. Quickly he shook his head and there was nothing.

"I must be more exhausted than I thought...Pull yourself together Macaque. You're you, no one else." He reassures himself as he quickly grabs some aspirin and left the bathroom.

Macaque had trouble sleeping the rest of that night...worried filling his mind, but he tried his best to at least get some sleep. Despite the painful whispering that he heard...

*Time Skip*

I woke up seeing that I was no longer on the couch but was on the bed that I wanted Macaque to have. I groan as my felt like a bunch of bricks was just dropped on me, I wouldn't be surprised if someone did.

I hesitantly get up from the bed as I stretched out my sore limbs before finally leaving the comforts of the room. I hear rustling in the kitchen and I quickly summon a shadow dagger as I creeped around the corner.

I felt relief flood over me as it was just Macaque looking through the fridge. Wait...Macaque!!

"Holy shit!! You're back!!" I shout suddenly and Macaque puffs up startled.

"My god kid, scared the absolute shit out of me." He groans and I scoff.

"Yeah, and you left me? That scared the absolute shit out of ME." I sass back and Macaque rolls his eyes

"Look, I'm sorry ok? I just needed a breather." He says giving me an oddly soft look.

"Who are you and what have you done to Macaque?" I glare and he snorts.

"I assure you kid, I'm the Macaque you know."

He then went back to rustling in the fridge before pulling out my box of meatballs that I got from a strange lady yesterday. He started eating them as he sat down on the couch.

"First off, Ew you didn't even heat them up, and two THOSE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE MINE!!" I yell and he just shrugs still eating them.

"You snooze you lose."

But then he suddenly started hiccuping. We both stare at each other in silence before I burst out laughing.

"OH MY GOD-AHAHAHA!!"

"HEY- *hic* DONT LAU-*hic*" Macaque groans in frustration as he couldn't even talk without being interrupted. I continued to laugh as I pulled out my phone to record.

Macaque stood up, still hiccuping, as he chased me around but I dodged his advances to capture me. He eventually just gave up as he laid on the couch face down as he just continued to hiccup.

"Those meatballs were cursed..." his muffled voice said making me snort.

"How is meatballs cursed?" I ask sarcastically and he sat up.

"Where did you-*hic* Get them from?" He asks and I show him a picture of the lady who sold them to me. He grabs my phone staring at the lady before giving me a pointed look.

"This lady is-*hic* A demon, she curses-*hic* the meatballs for fun." He explained and I nod.

"So does it go away or...?"

"No, it's stays for-*hic* ever. There is a cure though." He said as stuck his hand through a shadow portal pulling out a scroll and handing it to me. I take it and open it up to read it.

"The crimson Chimson weed on Emerald Mountain? That's what we need?" I say looking up at Macaque and he nods.

"Alright then, let's get going-"

"You're going by yourself." He says before hiccuping

"What?! Why?!" I ask and he just smirks

"Think of it as-*hic* a personal mission. You always wanted-*hic* your own mission. Plus I'll be too distracted by-*hic* these hiccups." He says as he pats me on the back.

I roll my eyes, but he is right. I always wanted my own independent mission. So, challenge accepted!!

"Then off I go, let me grab a couple things and I'll be on my way. Try not to suffocate in your own hiccups." I smirk and he flips me the bird making me laugh.

I grabbed a mini travel bag, only carrying the things I needed. Like some water bottles, small snacks, and a small medkit. And off I go to Emerald Mountain.

"You know....I have a strange feeling that something is gonna happen...Eh I don't give a fuck. ADVENTURE!!"
