Cinna was hit with a powerful, irrational desire; an urge to get back to Barbados. He snuffed it out quickly enough, realizing there was no need to run it by his men, or Cat. Even he knew how foolish that would be.
"Though I do look like a completely different person now..." he thought to himself, as he stroked his beard, standing at the mirror in his room. "What is it?" his thoughts persisted. He turned left, turned right. "Dare I say, it's manhood that I'm seeing? I've been becoming more of a man, and less of a - and that's enough of that." He spoke those last five words aloud. That inner dialogue of his needed some taming, it seemed.
Together he and the crew decided they'd stay at sea for the next while. Following trade routes, paying attention to the changing winds to guide them. Like any other seasoned sailors. Or pirates.
"Maybe providence will smile on us" Cinna had said to the crew when the decision was made. "We won't be wandering aimlessly, men. And Cat. We'll be trusting ourselves to the hands of fate."
"And you still don't know how not to ruin a good thing." Olu thought. The crew were ready for the next leg of their journey. After the "trusting to the hands of fate" comment, though, doubt showed on their faces.
"Well, the damage - if that's not too strong a word - is done" thought Olu. "It's all gonna be alright. Surely there's someone on the ship who fate doesn't have it in for. Someone who deserves a happy ending." "Maybe the rest of us'll benefit by proximity..."
