Belle woke up early after camping overnight in tents on route 12. She started working on breakfast, making a softer version for Gible. Alain crawled out of his tent and rubbed his face, curious at what she was doing.
"Morning. I've made enough for your Charizard too. Do you have any other Pokemon?"
"I do, but Charizard is the only one with me right now. Do you do this everyday?" Belle nodded. "Sounds exhausting."
"It's vital that they get all the necessary vitamins and nutrients to optimize their abilities and health. I hope Gible likes his I had to make a softer version for his tooth."
"You're quite the caretaker."
"There isn't anything I wouldn't do for my Pokemon." Belle smiled and called them out, placing their bowls in front of them. She handed Alain a bowl and watched as he called out his Charizard. She sat down, pulled Gible in her lap, and helped feed him. "I know your tooth probably doesn't feel great right now, so I made this soft. Okay, we're going to get your tooth checked out today."
"Gible!"
Belle massaged around Gible's face, smiling as he squealed in delight. "Does that help?"
"Gible!" Belle laughed.
"There is just some things you'd never experience without actually traveling, huh?" Alain said, shaking his head at her. "I've never seen someone care for their Pokemon to this extent."
"They are my responsibility, and I have high expectations for their performances just like they have expectations for mine. It's essential to ensure you aren't just relying on your Pokemon and doing the work." Belle put Gible down and crossed to Altaria to brush her feathers. The others lined up for brushing too. "Okay, okay," she laughed. "It's going to be quick because we need to hurry to Shalour, okay?" They all nodded. When everyone was brushed, she gave them all water to drink as she pulled a carrier and worked it around her. She fastened Gible to it so that he was in front of her like a baby carrier. "Okay, everyone, return."
"Gible's are like 45lbs aren't they?" Alain asked. "Are you going to be able to do hold him the rest of the way?"
"Of course." Belle threw her bag around her. "Ready?"
They entered Shalour City and immediately referenced the address Nurse Joy gave them. Belle followed the building numbers until seeing one with the name Dr. Bid's Bidoof Dentistry, and the logo was two large Bidoof teeth. They crossed inside and were greeted at the counter by a Bidoof.
"Hi cutie!" Belle smiled, petting the Bidoof. "Is Dr. Bid available?"
"He is!" A man with poofy brown hair said, crossing into the room. "Ah, you must be the young lady with the Gible Nurse Joy called about, hm?"
"Yes. She said one of his canines was loose. I fed him soft food for breakfast today."
"Good. Let me take a look," he crossed over and examined Gible's teeth. He nodded as he identified the loose one. "Ah, yes. Well, the good news is the tooth can be saved. There is a device I can put in Gible's mouth that will keep the tooth in place. It's not the most comfortable thing, but it will not hurt. You will have to continue with the soft foods."
"Not a problem."
"I'll show you how to clean the tooth while loose also, but first let's get Gible all set up."
"Okay, time to be brave, Gible, okay," Belle said, kissing the top of its head.
"Gible!"
Dr. Bid put a clamp around Gible's tooth, and it connected to the lip. He then explained how to clean the tooth and treat the area if it irritated. Belle took notes on everything.
"I'm curious what happened to affect the tooth like that. Gible has strong teeth. It isn't a common thing. It could've even been done by another person."
"Who would do something cruel like that?" Belle's hand balled into a fist. "Don't worry, Gible. I'll protect you now." Gible nuzzled against Belle. "How much will this cost Dr. Bid?"
"No cost. My practice is funded just as Pokemon Centers are. While you're here would you like me to check on all of your Pokemon's teeth?"
"Yeah, that sounds great. What about you Alain?"
"Sure, Charizard could always use a checkup."
Dr. Bid checked everyone's teeth thoroughly and gave a professional cleaning. "Look at all those bright smiles!" He beamed as all the Pokemon showed off their clean teeth. Come back in two weeks to check on Gible's progress, okay? Come sooner if you have any issues."
"Will do, thank you!"
Alain and Belle walked out of the office. Belle smiled, "well, are you ready for that battle now?"
"Yes, let's go to the Pokemon Center again. They have an arena outside in the garden."
"Alright, let's go!"
