Belle woke up the next morning. She smiled looking around the area she camped out at. There was a small lake nearby a surrounding forest. "This is a great place for everyone to come out and stretch," she exclaimed as she pulled her poke balls out of her backpack. "Come out everyone!" She exclaimed as she opened all their poke balls. She put the empty poke balls back on her straps and tied them around her ankles as her Pokemon squealed in excitement. Dragonair and Kingdra enjoyed themselves in the lake, Grovyle lounged by the lake, but on the grass. While Charizard and Altaria flew around chasing one another. She smiled as she watched all of them play. Belle grabbed her bag and pulled out the berries and other ingredients she kept stocked to make her Pokemon food. She always made their food first and then her own.
"Lunch is ready!" She called out. All of her Pokemon ran over-excited as she sat down in each of their bowls. When they began to eat, she worked at making herself something to eat, using the berries. "After we eat, we need to begin training. Especially you, Grovyle, you're my newest Pokemon still," she instructed with a smile.
"Grovyle!" he exclaimed with excitement as he chowed down on his food.
Once they were all done eating. Belle cleaned up and then called Charizard and Grovyle over to train. "Okay, Charizard. I am going to be directing Grovyle and you need to give it your all. I am counting on you, alright?" Charizard roared in delight. Grovyle positioned themselves, ready to begin. "Let's get this started," she exclaimed extending her arm out to gesture the start of the battle. "Grovyle use quick attack!"
Grovyle quickly moved across the field. He zig-zagged back and forth. Charizard countered the attack with a large flamethrower. Grovyle tried to dodge it but was hit by the flame. Belle winced when the impact was made. "Okay, we need to practice our speed more," she noted aloud. "Okay, hit Charizard with your best leaf blade!" She exclaimed gesturing towards Charizard. Grovyle put himself in a battle stance and shot a leaf blade attack toward Charizard, but Charizard used another flamethrower to incinerate all the other leaves.
"Dang, Charizard is good," she snickered. Charizard flew down and prepared to use Dragon Tail. "Dodge it, Grovyle!" She instructed. Grovyle dodged, but barely. Charizard impacted the ground."Quick Grovyle, use Cut!" Grovyle finally landed an attack on Charizard, but he quickly retaliated with dragon claw, causing Grovyle to fly backward and hit the tree. Belle sighed. "That's the match," she exclaimed. "Nice work Charizard." Charizard roared with pride. "Grovyle, your leaf blade was amazing and I am proud you landed your cut attack, but against fire Pokemon, we rely on your quick attack. We need to work on your speed, okay?"
Grovyle nodded and looked down, feeling disappointed. "No need to be upset. We have to work hard to get better and that's that. Charizard and I have been practicing together a lot longer than you and I have. We will get our teamwork down. Let's call everyone back and you and I can practice our speed as we run towards Santalune City, okay?"
"Grovyle!" Grovyle exclaimed with delight.
"Dragonair, Charizard, Altaria, and Kingdra, return!" She strapped the poke balls back onto her ankles and picked up her bag. "Alright Grovyle. Let's do this!" Belle and Grovyle started at full speed running through the pathway of the forest. Belle was used to running to keep up with Charizard and Altaria's flying, but now it was time to focus on the ground. "We need to keep zig-zagging with one another. This way you can get a better feel for how your quick attack should be."
"Grovyle!"
They both ran in zig-zags, crossing one another as they continued forward. Grovyle was already making improvements. Running beside Belle seemed to be giving him the confidence and motivation he needed. At this speed, they made it through the forest in a great time. They both stopped at the end of it to catch their breath. "Awesome work, Grovyle," Belle complimented in between breaths. "You really gave me a workout! Here, return to your Pokeball and get a nice long rest. I will head straight to the Pokemon Center and get you all checked up."
