"Alain? Belle?" Both Alain and Belle looked up, being met with Ash's voice.
"Hey, Ash!" They said in unison. They turned to each other, "you know Ash?" They laughed and then returned their attention to Ash and the others.
"What are you guys doing together?" Serena asked, glancing between the two.
"Alain accompanied me to the Pokemon Dentist. My newest Pokemon has a loose tooth. This is Gible!" Belle exclaimed, gesturing to the Gible she was carrying. "We're going to have a battle. Want to watch?"
"Do I!" Ash exclaimed.
"I'll go ahead and referee if you don't mind," Clemont said.
"Can I take care of Gible when you battle, Belle?" Bonnie asked.
"Of course. That would be a big help, thank you." Belle put Gible down beside Bonnie. "Just be careful around the area with his tooth, okay?"
"Okay!" Bonnie giggled and immediately began to pet Gible.
Belle stretched and took a deep breath. Having Gible off of her was a lot less strain on her body. "Alright, Clemont. We want a 1v1."
"Alright then. This will be a one v. one pokemon battle. The battle is over when one Pokemon is no longer able to battle. Let the battle between Belle and Alain begin!" Clemont announced.
"Charizard, I choose you!" Belle and Alain both said, tossing out their Pokeballs." They held their arms up.
"Alright. Charizard, it's time to shine!" - Belle
"Charizard, Respond to my heart." - Alain
"Let's show them our strength" - Belle
"Key Stone!" - Alain
"Mega Evolve!" Belle and Alain said in unison as both Charizards began to respond to their keystones. Alain's Charizard evolves into Mega Charizard X, and Belle's into Mega Charizard Y.
"Charizard flamethrower!" Alain commanded. His Charizard instantly went for the attack.
"Up." Belle's Charizard flew straight up. "Spin," Spun around and evaded the flamethrower. "Prepare for fly, but ready for evasion."
"Steel wing!" Alain's Charizard rushed towards Belle's.
"Wait." A moment passed as Alain's Charizard readied for impact. "Now." Belle's Charizard flew up, letting Alain's pass by. Belle's Charizard grabbed the body of Alain's and rushed upward, then tossed Charizard X to the ground in a successful Fly attack. "Perfect. Dragon tail into flamethrower."
"Wait, what?" Alain turned perplexed at Belle. "Dodge!" His command was too late as the Dragon tail locked into position, and Charizard's followed-up flamethrower made contact."
"Now, Blast Burn!"
"Charizard, Blast Burn in return!" Alain instructed, but Belle's Charizard was better positioned, and its attack landed first.
"Impact!" Belle winced as Alain's Charizard's Blast Burn also made an impact. "It's okay, fly around and land your Dragon Claw!"
"Fly up, Charizard!" Alain instructed.
"Track him!" Belle's Charizard turned quickly and located Alain's Charizard, her Charizard's speed outmatching Alain's.
"Steel wing!"
"Grab it with Dragon Claw and use Blast Burn again!"
"How can you command two moves?" Alain asked, his face panicked.
"I told you I trained in a particular way," Belle smirked as Charizard followed through. Alain's Charizard fell to the ground. The Mega Evolution weaned off.
"Charizard is unable to battle. Belle is the winner!"
"Great work Charizard!" Belle beamed, rushing over to him as the mega-evolution faded. "Get a good rest, okay?" She tapped the Pokeball against him and crossed over to Alain's. "You battled so well. You're so strong. Here," she picked a berry out of her bag and gave it to Alain's Charizard, who ate it. "You're in incredible shape. Evolving into Charizard X is hard work, great job." Alain's Charizard beamed.
"Charizard return," Alain crossed over to her. "That's the first time we've lost."
"Wow, that's incredible. I believe it you guys are really strong."
"I don't understand. You barely took any damage."
"We took a good brunt of your Blast Burn. We're just good at evasion."
"Yeah," Alain turned his head away. "Good battle. I'm going to head in and get Charizard checked into the Pokemon Center."
Belle frowned as Alain crossed inside. Her attention turned to Ash, who rushed over. "Your Charizard is so strong! How can you make two moves at once? Can you teach me? That's incredible!"
Belle laughed, "it took me years to master it. Charizard and I have been together for a very long time. I've raised Dragonair since he was a Dratini back when I was just a kid, but I got Charmander as my starting Pokemon six years ago, and we've worked to become stronger and stronger."
"Hey, Alain will be okay," Serena said, placing an arm on Belle's back. "You were his first loss. I'm sure it was unexpected."
"I'm going to go talk to him. I need to check in my Charizard, also." Belle smiled and crossed inside. She left Charizard with Nurse Joy and crossed over to where Alain was sitting. "Hey."
He sighed, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have behaved as I did. I'm just surprised."
"It's okay. I've surprised many people, especially since I haven't been in the Pokemon scene, so I get it, but you and Charizard are crazy strong. And also, you had no idea my attack style, so I'm sure you'll be more prepared to counter it next time we battle. Sometimes you can't win until you've lost first. At least, that's what my father always says to me."
"Well I'd be crazy to question the knowledge of Professor Starr, or his talented daughter." She smiled. "Have you battled Ash yet?" She shook her head, "he's got a peculiar battling style too. He's very spontaneous. I think you'd enjoy a battle with him."
"I'll take him up on a battle soon."
"Alain. Your Charizard is ready," Nurse Joy called.
Belle got up and followed him to the counter. He turned to her and smiled. "Tell Ash and the others I said bye. I have some training to do. It was nice meeting you, Belle."
"You too," she said, extending her hand and shaking his. "Let's have another battle sometime."
"Count on it," he waved as he left the Pokemon Center.
"Your Charizard is ready to go too, Belle," Nurse Joy beamed.
"Thank you." Belle grabbed her Pokeball and attached it to her ankle strap. She crossed back outside to see Ash and the others.
"Are you staying the night here too, Belle?" Serena asked.
"Yes," Belle nodded. "Alain had to go. He told me to say goodbye."
"Aw, I wish he would've said it directly," Ash sighed, "do you think we could have a battle, Belle?"
"Soon." Belle smiled. "My Pokemon have had a long day, and tomorrow we're going to challenge Korrina. We weren't prepared to battle here since we were in Couramine City, but Gible's tooth health was the priority. Have you challenged her yet, Ash?"
"Yep! This morning," Ash held up his Rumble badge. "Mind if we watch your battle tomorrow?"
"I don't mind!" Belle smiled. "Well, let's get some sleep. I can't go into a gym battle tired."
