Audrey's P.O.V

I walked into the kitchen a few days after becoming friends with Synthia to get some cupcakes for Ben's coronarion that I had forgotten about, and I stopped dead. "What are you doing here?" I asked the five kids from the Isle. "Just baking some cookies. What are you doing here?" Mal asked. "Getting some cupcakes for the coronation that I forgot," I replied. "Uh-oh..." I heard Jay say, turning to face me, holding a cupcake in each hand. "It took me a whole day to make those!" I said angrily. "Sorry. I couldn't help myself. These are very good, by the way," he replied, putting the cupcakes he was holding back where he found them and offered me the tray of them, and I found only one missing. "Thank you for the compliment," I said, taking the tray and turning to leave. "Hey, maybe you could help us out with the cookies," Synthia said, and I turned back around. "I'm always interested in helping people with baking," I said. "Perfect." Mal said. "So, do you guys have any special ingredients that you use on the Isle?" I asked. "We, uh... we don't really make cookies on the Isle," Carlos said, and the others nodded in agreement. "Oh. That sounds terrible. I couldn't imagine living without cookies," I said, a sadness starting to grip my heart. "We don't really do a whole lot with our parents," Synthia said, and I started tearing up, realizing what the kids of villains had to go through. Almost as soon as I shed a tear, Mal caught it in a vial before shooing me out of the kitchen, which I found suspicious.

Synthia's P.O.V

The next day, I stood next to Mal at my locker when Ben walked up, and I noticed Audrey standing a bit further down the hall, so I made my way over to her with a plastic bag of cookies. "Hey Audrey!" I said as I walked up beside her. "Oh, hey Syn. What's up?" She asked. "Not much. Do you want a cookie?" I asked her. "Sure," she said, taking a cookie from the bag I had with me and biting into it. "Wow. This is... this is amazing! I..." Audrey said, then she looked at me curiously. "Has anyone ever told you that you have beautiful eyes?" She asked. "Not until now," I said. "We should sit together for the Tourney game this afternoon," she said. "Works for me," I said, and Audrey walked away from me just as Ben walked away from Mal.

After the Tourney game, which Auradon won, Ben broke out into song, which I found a little strange. Stranger still, when he came into the stands, he went right for Mal, who had caught his jacket, and asked her in front of the whole school if she would be his date for the coronation. She said yes, and then Audrey reached out and grabbed the microphone from Ben. "Uh..." I said as Audrey stood up, pulling me up with her. "Synthia, will you be my date to the coronation?" She said, and my eyes widened. "Of course! Yes!" I said, wanting nothing more.

The next day, Audrey had asked me on a date in the woods, and I couldn't help but think, this is just like the plot of a b-list horror movie. Still, I agreed to go with her, choosing to wear a pretty white dress.

Audrey led me through the forest, stopping when we came to a bridge. "Tell me something that you've never told anyone," she said. "Promise you won't laugh?" I asked. "I promise," she said. "My middle name is Bronwyn," I said. "That's a lovely middle name. Mine's Rosella," she said. "I like that middle name. You know, my mother almost made my middle name Thackery, but my aunts hated it, so she decided on Bronwyn instead," I said. "I can see why they would hate the name Thackery," Audrey said. "Yeah. Why did your parents decide to make your middle name Rosella?" I asked her. "I don't really know. It's a bit redundant considering my last name is Rose," she said, "Do you trust me?" "Yeah, why?" I asked. "Because I want to surprise you with where we're going," she said. "Yeah, I trust you," I said simply, and she covered my eyes with one of her hands. "Easy, easy. I've got you. I'm not gonna let you fall," she said as we walked together. "How much farther is it?" I asked. "Not too far. Just a little further," Audrey said, continuing to lead me along.

"Okay, we're here," she said, slowly uncovering my eyes to reveal a beautiful lake with a small set of ruins on the shore. I noticed a picnic was set up in the ruins, and Audrey led me there. We sat down and started eating, and I was surprised by the variey of foods that were set up. "Did you do all of this?" I asked. "Yeah. This is a pretty popular place for dates," she replied as I took a bite of a grape and sighed, enjoying the taste. "You want to go swimming?" Audrey asked. "I don't know how to swim," I said. "Seriously? You live on an island," she said. "With a barrier around it!" I replied. "Okay, okay. It was just a joke," she said, getting ready to go swimming by herself.

Audrey's P.O.V

I heard Synthia holler something at me before I dove into the lake, but I couldn't tell what it was, so I just smiled and gave her a thumbs up. I leapt into the lake, and it was like a veil had been lifted off of me. What the? Dang it! That cookie that Synthia gave me must have been laced with a love potion! I thought, then I realized that I was underwater and needed to get some air. I heard a splash from nearby, and I moved towards the pair of legs that had just appeared in the water. Synthia slipped on the bottom of the lake and lost her balance, and I quickly swam over and caught her on my way up. I carried her over to the ruins and gently set her down.

Synthia's P.O.V

Shortly after Audrey dived into the lake, I felt something inside of me, like my heart was trying to tell me something.

If Only (Synthia's Version)

A million thoughts in my head
Should I let my heart keep listening?
'Cause up til now I've walked the line
Nothing lost, but something missing

I can't decide what to do
Which way should I go?

If only I knew what my heart was telling me
Don't know what I'm feeling, am I under a spell?
Oh-oh, yeah
If only I could read the signs in front of me
I could find a way to who I'm meant to be
Oh-oh, if only
If only

Every step, every spell
With every hour, I am falling in
To something new, something brave
To someone I, I have never been

I can't decide what's wrong, what's right?
Which way should I go?

If only I knew what my heart was telling me
Don't know what I'm feeling, am I under a spell?
Oh-oh, yeah
If only I could read the signs in front of me
I could find a way to who I'm meant to be
Oh-oh, if only, yeah!

Am I crazy? Maybe
We could happen
Will you still be with me
When the magic's all run out?

If only I knew what my heart was telling me
Don't know what I'm feeling, am I under a spell?
Oh-oh
If only I could read the signs in front of me
I could find a way to who I'm meant to be
Oh-oh, if only
Yeah!
If only
Yeah!
If only
Yeah!
If only, if only, if only

I realized that Audrey had been under the surface for a long time, and I started to worry about her. "Audrey?" I asked loudly. Nothing. "Audrey?!" I shouted, and when I still didn't hear a response, I stepped into the lake to look for her. I didn't get very far before I slipped and fell, just as I felt something lift me up out of the water and carry me back to the ruins, while I was coughing and spluttering. "You scared me!" I said, pushing Audrey away from me. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to," she said. "Whatever," I said, turning away from her and scooting back over to the picnic. "Synthia, I really didn't mean to scare you, honest. Can you forgive me?" She asked, gently turning my head to look at her. "I guess I can," I said as she put a jacket around my shoulders. "I love you, Synthia," she said, and I gave her a look of shock. "Do you... love me?" She asked a bit nervously. "I, um... I don't know what love feels like," I said, tearing up a little. "Hey, it's okay. Don't cry. I can show you what love feels like, if you want me to," she said. "I'd really like that," I said, managing to smile. "C'mon, let's get you back to school so you can put on some dry clothes," she said, helping me to my feet so we could head back.

This story is getting to be pretty fun to write for me. I hope you're enjoying it. It's been a while since I last did this, but here's a quote from Larry the Cable Guy: "I was at the bar one time and some girl picked me up. I said, 'Put me down!'" Until next time!
