Synthia's P.O.V
When I learned about the Royal Cotillion, a royal party introducing Mal as a new Lady of the Court, the first thing I did was ask Audrey to be my date to the party. One day, we went on a walk together, and we talked about what we thought Cotillion would be like. "It's going to be the first party of its kind in Auradon. I'm sure that there's going to be a lot that goes into it to make it special," Audrey said. "Yeah, that makes sense," I replied, then we both heard someone approaching us. "Can I talk to you, Synthia?" Jane asked me. "Uh... sure," I said, and Jane motioned for me to follow her. "I'll be right back, babe," I said, and Audrey nodded. I went with Jane a short ways, then she stopped and turned around. "Look, I need your help with planning Cotillion. I hardly know what Mal would want at a party," she said. "Mal doesn't exactly do parties. She's never really liked them," I said. "Why's that?" Jane asked, and I told her about the time when Mal was six, and she didn't get invited to Evie's birthday party. "Oh, that's understandable," Jane replied. "Yeah," I said. "Well, maybe we can do something that'll make her like the party," Jane said.
The next day, I met up with Jane to start working on the planning of Cotillion. "Hey, have you noticed anything different about Mal?" I asked. "Yeah, several things. Why?" Jane asked. "Well, she doesn't seem like she was after Ben's coronation. She's acting more like an Auradon princess than herself lately. She also dyed her hair white blonde with purple tips. Honestly, I'm starting to worry about her. It seems to me like she's pushing herself to fit in and be the person that everyone else expects her to be, instead of just being herself," I said with a sigh. "Yeah. Ben fell in love with her because of who she was, not this new version of her," Jane said. "Do you think we should talk to her about it?" I asked. "I think it would be better if we just let things happen. If she wants to talk to us, that's fine," Jane said.
Shortly before Cotillion, I was talking to Jane about the stained glass painting of Ben and Mal that was going to be Mal's gift from Ben, when Evie suddenly came in, a worried look on her face. "What's up?" I asked. "It's Mal. She went back to the Isle," Evie said. "I'm sorry, but I have to go," I said to Jane. "Don't worry about it. Go get Mal back," she said. "What about Audrey?" I asked Evie on the way to the royal limousine. "Look, I know that you two do just about everything together, but I don't know about this," she replied. "Can I at least tell her what's going on so she knows where I am?" I asked. "Sure," she said, so I took out my phone and texted Audrey, letting her know that I was going back to the Isle with Evie, Carlos, Jay and Ben to bring Mal back to Auradon. Almost as soon as I sent her the message, she texted me back. I'm coming too, she sent me. I texted her back, telling her that it wouldn't be a good idea for her to come, but she was adamant about going with.
When Evie and I got to the limo, Jay, Carlos, Ben and Audrey were all waiting for us. We got into the car, with Jay driving, and went to the Isle of the Lost. "Now, remember, when we get out of the car, follow my lead, understand?" I asked Audrey. "Yeah, I remember. I just need to remember everything that I've been taught about kindness and stuff, then do the opposite," she said. "Exactly. Oh, and don't talk to strangers. That's a good way to get mugged on the Isle," I said. "Gotcha," she replied softly. When we arrived, we covered the car with some tarps to try to hide it. We had to help Ben with blending in on the Isle, but Audrey was able to make it seem like she'd been there her whole life. She chalked it up to spending so much time with me and my friends, which I could understand. We got to Mal's hideout without incident, and Ben went up to talk to her. "I never realized just how bad things were here," Audrey said. "You've never been here before, so you had no way to know," I said. "It's kinda scary, if I'm being completely honest," she said. "I suppose the Isle can have that effect on people, now that you mention it," I said.
When Ben returned, he didn't have to say anything for us to know that he hadn't been able to convince Mal to come back with us. I decided to go with him when he started walking off, trying to keep him safe while also providing him with some company. "Synthia, please stop following me," he said. "I'm trying to keep you safe. If anyone here finds out who you are, the consequences will almost certainly be dire," I said, having to walk a bit faster to keep up with him. I didn't notice when he suddenly stopped, and I wound up walking right into the back of him, causing me to fall to the ground. I got up, shaking some garbage out of my hair, and then I froze when I saw why Ben had stopped. "Well, hello beautiful," said the Scottish accented voice of Harry Hook, one of my least favorite people on the Isle. "What do you want, Harry?" I snapped at him. "Ooh, feisty. I've always admired you for that," he said, and I tried to push him away. "Well, I'm sure Uma will be glad to hear that you're back," he said, and then I couldn't see anything as someone put a bag over my head.
