Synthia's P.O.V

On the way back to Auradon, I sat next to Audrey, who put her arm around my shoulders, so I laid my head on her shoulder, tears silently streaming down my cheeks. After what happened with Uma, I thought I would never see Audrey again, and it made me realize that I was scared of losing her. "Audrey, can you promise me something?" I asked her. "Anything," she said. "Promise me that I'm not going to lose you," I said. "I promise that you're not going to lose me. I'll always be with you," she said. "Thanks," I replied with a small smile. "What made you ask me that?" She asked. "When I was taken with Ben, I honestly thought that I'd never see you again," I said. "Oh, you poor thing! I wish you hadn't gone through that," Audrey replied softly, kissing my cheek. I looked out of the window, and I could've sworn I saw a flash of teal in the ocean below. "What are you looking at?" Audrey asked me. "I thought I saw... never mind. It was probably just a trick of the light," I said. "You don't think that maybe... you know... maybe Uma escaped from the Isle, do you?" She asked me. "I wouldn't rule it out," I said, nuzzling my face into her neck.

When we got back to Auradon, Mal, Evie and I made to split up with Carlos, Jay, Audrey and Lonnie, but Carlos and Jay stopped us and insisted on joining us. All five of us sat down in the grass in front of the school, while Audrey and Lonnie went inside to get ready for Cotillion. "I don't know how to start girl talk," Carlos said, and the rest of us laughed. "I feel like I'm losing Ben," Mal said. "Why do you say that?" Evie asked her. "He just seems... different. I can't think of a better way to describe it," Mal said. "Well, listen, I know that Ben still loves you," Evie said, and we all voiced our agreement. With that, we got up and went inside so we could get ready for Cotillion as well. As I walked away, I overheard Jay talking to Mal. "I know that Ben still loves you. If he hurts you, though, I'll drive you back to the Isle myself," he said.

Aboard the True Love, the royal yacht, I stood beside Evie and Doug, my arm linked with Audrey's, and when Mal came out, there was a collective sigh of awe at her beauty. She stood next to Audrey and waited for Ben to come out, but when he did, I immediately noticed something was off about him. He had a sort of disoriented look in his eyes, and it reminded me of something that I had read in Mal's spellbook about the effects of a love spell. "Mal, I'm really sorry about this," he whispered to her, then turned around as someone else came out. Uma. They greeted each other, then began to dance together. I could see the tears that Mal was trying desperately to hold back. "As my gift to Uma, I am taking down the barrier between Auradon and the Isle of the Lost for good," Ben announced, then turned to Fairy Godmother. "I - this -" she sputtered, unsure how to proceed. "I am your king!" Ben suddenly shouted. "Obey him!" Uma said loudly. I, meanwhile, separated from Audrey and the rest and went up to Lumiere. "Reveal the gift for Mal," I whispered to him before returning to Audrey's side. "Ahem. And now, King Ben's gift for his lady, Mal," Lumiere announced as the silk covering fell away, revealing the stained glass portrait of Mal and Ben.

"Ben did that... for me?" Mal asked in surprise. "Yeah," I said. "Cover that back up, now!" Uma shouted at Lumiere. "I will not!" He said indignantly. "Ben, look at me," Mal said, just as Uma appeared next to her. "No, Ben. Look at me," she said. Ben's eyes flickered to Uma, but returned to Mal. "Ben, I never told you that I loved you because I didn't know what it felt like, and I thought that I wasn't good enough for you. I know now that I made a mistake going back to the Isle. Ben, of course I love you," Mal said tearfully, pulling Ben into a kiss. "I love you too, Mal," he said when they separated. "Ugh! Give me that wand!" Uma demanded, walking up to Fairy Godmother. "I do not take orders from you!" She replied. It was then that everyone noticed a brilliant golden light coming from Uma's neck, and I knew that it was her mother's necklace that was glowing. "Wait! Uma, don't!" I cried, but it was too late, as she had already jumped into the ocean. Everyone gathered at the rail of the ship, looking for her. "Watch out!" I warned, just before a giant tentacle whipped at us from the ocean as Uma surfaced. "Come on, Mal. Let's do this!" She said, and I noticed that Mal had started breathing heavily, her eyes beginning to glow bright green as purple smoke began to encase her. There was a screech, and when the smoke cleared, in Mal's place was a large purple dragon. "Carlos, Jay, hold these, and whatever you do, do not lose them," Ben said, taking off his crown and jacket and handing them to Jay and Carlos. With a loud roar, he leapt into the water and tried to keep Mal and Uma from trying to kill each other. In the end, Uma returned the Beast-head ring she had to Ben, and Mal landed on the ship, returning to her normal form.

Fun fact: If you listen closely, you can actually hear what sounds like Ben's voice singing in the background of "If Only" in Descendants.
