Synthia's P.O.V
The day after Duna went for a walk on the beach, she seemed a bit more cheerful than before. When I asked her about it, she kind of avoided the question by changing the subject. I figured that if she wanted to tell me, she would when she felt ready. One day about two weeks after that night, I walked in on something that I wasn't expecting.
I had just gotten up to use the bathroom around midnight when I heard something that sounded oddly like a giggle. When I was done, I decided to look for the source of the noise that I had heard, starting with the living room, since that was where it sounded like it was coming from. When I walked into the room, I froze in my tracks. Duna was sitting on the couch, making out with a familiar figure with teal hair. Duna seemed to notice me out of the corner of her eye, and she froze too, which evidently threw Uma off. "Duna, what is Uma doing here? And, more importantly, why are you making out with her?" I asked, putting my hand on my hip. "I invited her over because we were tired of going out of our way to meet up, only to make out on the beach and get sand all over ourselves," Duna explained. I pinched the bridge of my nose, trying not to get upset. "You realize how bad this would look to anyone but me, right?" I asked her. "Yes, I am aware of that. I am also tired of having to look over my shoulder every time I go to meet up with Uma, afraid that someone will catch me with her or something," she said. "You're playing a dangerous game, Duna. I don't think that you understand exactly what the consequences could be if someone catches you with Uma," I said.
"Ugh. Quit acting like you are my mother, will you? I am the same age as you, and I do not tell you what to do," Duna said, giving me a cold glare. "Duna, that's not -" I began, but she wasn't in the mood to listen. "Look, all I want is for you to accept that Uma and I love each other, and we would do anything for each other. That is all I am asking of you," she said. "I'm sorry. I accept that you guys are in love," I said. "Thank you, Synthia," she said. "No problem," I said. "What's all the racket about down here?" Audrey asked, walking into the room while rubbing her eyes. Before I got the chance, Duna told Audrey everything that she had told me, and to my surprise, Audrey accepted that her and Uma were in love as well.
Duna's P.O.V
I was glad that Synthia and Audrey supported my relationship with Uma, but at the same time, I do not want them to get into trouble because of it. I did not know what to do to feel better about the whole situation. "Look, if you're worried that your friends will get in trouble because of us, maybe it would be better for us to be apart, at least for now," Uma said. "I do not know if I could go very long without seeing you though, my beloved," I replied, and she took one of my hands in hers. "Listen, I know that it's gonna be hard for you. It's gonna be hard for me, too. But there's really nothing else that we can do about it," she said, and I tried to will myself to hold back my tears. "Duna, if you need to cry, then go ahead and cry. Don't hold it in," she said. "Okay," I replied simply, and I let my tears flow freely. "I'll wait for you, I promise. I don't care how long it takes for us to be reunited," she said. "I hope that will be soon," I said. "So do I, Duna," she said, and then she was gone. I returned to the castle I shared with Synthia and Audrey, trying to keep myself composed. "Duna, are you okay?" Synthia asked me, looking worried. "Yeah. I am fine," I replied without meeting her eyes. "Duna, please don't lie to me. I know something's bothering you. Let's talk about it in your room," she said, and I gave in and went to my room with her following me.
"So, what's on your mind?" She asked once she had closed the door and sat next to me on my bed. "Uma and I... we decided that it would be better for us to be apart for now, so that you and Audrey do not get in trouble because of my relationship with her," I said, still avoiding her eyes. "Duna, please look at me," she said, and I reluctantly turned to meet her eyes. She seemed to sense what I needed, and she pulled me into a tight squeeze, and I felt my tears come back. Recalling Uma's advice, I let my tears flow freely.
Synthia's P.O.V
It hurt my heart to see my friend so sad. I knew that Duna loved Uma very much, and I could only imagine what being away from Uma was making her feel. After crying into my shoulder for a bit, Duna asked if she could have some time alone. I agreed, and asked her to let me know when she felt a bit better. I went back to the living room, where Audrey came in a few minutes later. "Is Duna doing all right?" She asked. "I don't think so. She and Uma decided it would be better for them to be apart for now, so that we don't get in trouble because of their relationship," I explained. "Aww, the poor thing! I think I'll make her some omelets to help her feel better," Audrey said. "I'll help you out. I've got nothing else to do," I said, and we went to the kitchen. When we finished making the omelets, Duna came in and asked what we were making. "We're making omelets," I said. "Ooh! My favorite!" She said happily. "Yeah. We thought you could use something to cheer you up," Audrey said. "Well, thank you for taking the time to do this for me," she said. "No problem," Audrey said.

About two months later, we were over at Mal and Ben's castle with the rest of our friends, and when Evie asked them if there was anything new regarding Uma's whereabouts, I could feel Duna tense up next to me. "Relax, Duna. You're gonna look suspicious if you're tense like this," I whispered so only she could hear me. She relaxed and gave me a quick smile, mouthing the words "Thank you." "We haven't seen anything to suggest that Uma is in Auradon," Mal said, and most of the others agreed. "I thought I saw her over near the beach of South Riding, to the east of Honeymoon Cottage a few times," Carlos said, and Duna tensed up again. I gave him a pointed look, but he didn't notice it. "I saw someone else with her. I think it was Duna," he continued. "When did you see her?" Ben asked. "About two months ago," Carlos said. At this point, Duna hung her head and avoided even looking at anyone. "What's wrong, Duna?" Mal asked, but Duna didn't say anything. "I can speak for Duna. She was around Uma because she found a picture from when I used to be friends with Uma, and she wanted to meet Uma. I learned about two weeks after that that she was secretly dating her. They broke up about two months ago because they didn't want Audrey and me to get in trouble because of their relationship," I said. Duna finally looked up at the others, and I could tell that she felt guilty about what happened. "Duna, you don't have to feel guilty. You were just following your heart," Mal said. "Thank you," Duna replied simply.
