Today was a particularly dreadful day. Everyone was erratic, there were more pedestrians than normal, because of the upcoming exams for graduates who would soon learn where they would all go for university and college. And it was only worse for Y/n, the shadows were more excited than usual, and she didn't want to know why. The stares from both pedestrians and the shadows were all too much and frankly exhausting to ignore. She wished she were strong, in the ways that mattered. She craved for the type of resilience that helped her with anxiety and depression, but she doubts there were actual people like that...unless if they were stupid or rather ignorant.
She tightly held her book bag with all her schoolwork as she ran across the streets trying to hurry to her school. Already the thought of sleeping in her bed after school gave her the motivation to get there quickly so that the day could go by.
While the stares got worse as she entered the school, these were manageable. She had learned how to tell between the lingering looks from an early age. She remained a sheep disguised as a wolf amongst the feral beast of the school. She had to thank her vision for the support. Without knowing what she may have fallen victim to under the guise of false sentiment of her classmates. Usually, she sees people in green or grey and at times murky blue. Every student was laid bare to her in a sense, probably much to their disappointment.
Entering her class, she was met with whispers and stared at nothing new but exhausting as always. She almost wished she were bullied outright and not gossiped and ridiculed from hushed whispers and rushed mumbling. They only stopped when she made herself as small as possible, in the back seat near the window with the overview of the school's quad. Her classmates slowly started to pick up their volume and began talking about day-to-day lives and upcoming rests and assignments. Particularly a girl next to her had been squealing about a boy in particular who had been tied at first for the whole school.
"so, you know about how I was talking to one of my guy friends right? Well, I asked him if he knew light Yagami and if he could give me his number or something so that we could spend time together and get to know each other. And he asked light, and he said yes!! I'm honestly so surprised butttt.... like I am kinda that girl—" This girl was rambling to her friends about Yagami, they were fun and silly. But it did strike her as odd that Yagami had taken the offer. Not to say that she knew him personally or had never met him, but since they both tied for first. She almost expected him to be a recluse like herself. I guess even in the smart crowd she was a weirdo as well.
Y/n went back to looking out the window, zoning out the chatter and the previous conversation the girl had with her group of friends. Slowly it came time for the teacher to arrive, It really was like any other day, the teacher was yapping, and she took her notes while her classmates either failed or succeeded in paying attention. She sighed in reluctance, it was hard, constantly having to work. She leaned her head against her palm as her eyes wandered towards the windows as she peered outside.
