It was a typical day

It was a typical day. Well, as normal as it could get. The lingering stares didn't bother them anymore as long as they weren't the empty eyes of the shadow people.

The shadows loved hide and seek. It seemed to be their favorite game. And it so happens a lot of them found Y/N the most captivating player. It was nerve-wracking.
They were staring at them; they found them.

Why were they there?

How did they find them?

Why do they play such a game!

Stop looking at me!!
I'm normal!
I'm nothing to look at.
I can't see you.
I won't see you.

I can't see you.

They could still feel the stares of the surrounding pedestrians. It was supposed to be a regular walk to school. Why did they have to be so different? They never wanted to be abnormal. All they could do was hold tightly to their bag containing all their books for the day. The thought of getting home after a long day of school was all they needed to keep moving.

They learned how to tell the lingering looks apart from a young age, it was hard, but it gave them power in the end. It was a helpful power; it was what kept them alive up to this point. They could feel others' intentions. Some would say they could see auras, but that wasn't it. Everybody was covered in red hues. It was the feelings they produced that made everyone different.

Sometimes they wondered why it was red, why not blue or lilac. Why did it have to be such an intimidating color? Don't get them wrong. They were strong, more substantial than others when it came to mental strength. It was everyone else who thought otherwise. If it were something else, they might have agreed, but they have been through too much to think otherwise.

They took a peaceful breath, one they knew would be the last one for the day, until the next day, and so on. They could never catch a break; it was what came with their curse. They could never rest, no matter how much the hope or wish it would never go away.

They entered the school's doors, grimacing at the loud sounds coming off their peers. It was expected; everybody here was ordinary. They were happy for them. At least someone can live an everyday life. They continued off to class, taking their seat in the front row furthest from the door. They gathered their stuff, glad that this would be the most simple thing of the day.
