It had been a couple of days since the incident, and while it had bothered Y/n at first Ryuk was steadily making his company a staple in her day-to-day life. She made her way to make some breakfast after being awoken by the said Shinigami. Something he started to do after getting used to her schedule.

There were only five more months before she would be done with her high school education. While it was exciting to begin a new era she was stressed. She needs to get a perfect score to be able to get good scholarships to help with the payments. It was one of the moments that she appreciated her drive to succeed and the intelligence she had no shame of showing.

After eating breakfast and getting dressed in her outing clothes she made her way out. Today was a particularly important day for her future so she couldn't be late for it. Ryuk had left her mid-way to do something.

He was steadily leaving her, his presence slowly withering out, it was odd since at the beginning he would do all he could to stay nearby. At first she though that once he made his presence known to her, he wouldn't be able to leave since she was now his "prey" Y/n was curious about the ways of Shinigami and their powers. It was made clear to her after a few days with Ryuk that she was abnormal. He couldn't see her death date or her name. He was only able to see it once she introduced herself, as if she were rewriting her own existence...

~Two weeks prior~

"Hey...I forgot to ask earlier, but what's your name, human?" Y/n wanted to scoff; he was shameless but what could she expect from a godlike life form?

"Y/N Tenshi," he laughed as he looked at the top of their head when he suddenly stopped as he slowly tilted his head to the side.

Just what was he looking at Y/n though as her hand slowly made its way to the top of her head to find anything.

"Tell me can you see numbers on the heads of people?" huh? She looked around until she pointed to herself and looked at him as if he where the crazy one.

"No? I can't see...numbers on the heads of people...." Y/n started awkwardly. Was it something important?

"Can you see anything other than myself?" He asked. Y/n was only growing more confused. What did it mean for him to know?

"I can see others' aura. It's more like their intentions. Everyone has their body surrounded by colorful hues and tints." Y/n explained. Ryuk only hummed when he began walking again. She was startled by his quietness, just what was going on for him to keep his thoughts to himself?

Regardless, it wasn't like it was something abnormal, at least to her. There were weirder things in her life than a Shinigami telling her some life changing things.

~~~
She couldn't help letting her thoughts wander back towards Ryuk.
Today was the first time in a while that she saw Ryuk. And again, he kept to himself and made no attempt to stay with her once she got closer to her school. She was glad she didn't get attached, she didn't miss him, or really care about his presence...that's what she told herself.
What bothered her even more was the fact that she knew absolutely nothing about him. Of course, it would be a bit odd if he were the type of person to start sharing everything about his life! But didn't she when he asked??
Ryuk for some reason was the one who wanted to learn more about her. Her habits, her schedule, who she talked to, the people she liked. She would consider renaming Ryuk, 'diary' from how much he pushed to know about her. Of course, at that moment she thought it was pointless and even annoying but deep down she liked the fact she finally had someone who wanted to know her. Was it really that odd to want that type of connection with someone? It was harder to make friends with other actual human beings and she didn't dare try to be friends with other Shinigami's in fear of them being cruel like Ryuk had told her.
She didn't care for him, and she didn't miss him, and of course he would slowly start to distance himself after a while of finding her "interesting" so why did she have such a painful throbbing in her chest? Wasn't she supposed to be used to this?
Her feet slowly stopped moving as she just stared ahead. She violently shook her head in resignment.
"I can't be thinking like this! Its not even that big of a deal...plus I'll probably see him tomorrow or something" and exactly like that she began walking again. There was no point in thinking about the people in her past or the people who would come in her future. It wasn't worth the time or effort, and Ryuk deserved at least the benefit of the doubt it wasn't like he completely abandoned them. After all he was her first real friend, if she could really call him that.
Y/n made her way to an enormous building where she would take her exam for the top universities. The stress and nervousness suddenly hit her. Seeing the many students filter in with all the different shade and hues of colors was too overwhelming. The need to take a breather and throwing up was all she could think of. She quickly pushed through and made her way to the designated room she would take the exam in.
She looked around nervously as she made her way to her assigned seat. Her eyes met with a tired looking individual. His feet were perked up on the bench as he was looking off into the distance while biting his nail. A weird fellow with a cold exterior, and his aura agreed. He was made up of multiple colors but was overwhelmingly calm with hints of expectancy? His aura had a bright sparkle, and he glimmered brightly in the dimly lit building. He took their breath away. Y/n had never seen an aura like his, there have been ones with slight similarities, but he was different. It was odd. It startled her when his eyes met hers as they looked into each other's eyes for a good ten seconds before she hurriedly turned around and picked at her fingers from embarrassment.
'That was dumb!!! Why did I stare at him like a freak!' she cried externally, hoping that he wasn't staring at her or even worse thinking of talking to her after the exam.
|| More World building!!!! Crazy how the world works^
Our first time seeing L in the flesh! So I hope you enjoyed the name of the chapter because I did. And not once did I read it without hearing Squidwards voice lmao
Now to the Corner
So the next chapter is the exact same as the original (SURPRISE!!) Its just that I remember being so genuinely proud of that chapter and even rereading it it was pretty good! Its a bit short but it great I promise I wont spill the beans for nay new readers, but just know you're in for a treat
Also Mc is going through it! I know it may seem a bit weird or unfocused but that's kind of how I envision Mc. Plus I think it may connect with many people in different ways, from connecting with friends to being unable to keep a single thought.
I don't have anything else to say except to be tuned for the next chapter!
