Chapter 6

Liz's POV

I didn't know how to deal with the whole Josh being there for me thing. Since my mom passed away I had nobody to be there when I needed them. I didn't know what to do, how to react or how to let him know that I appreciated his efforts...

"So we made a deal which I agreed to, so... now I have to distract you" Josh said with a smile.

Before I had time to register what he had said, he took my hand and stood up, making me mimick his actions as he dragged me out of the restaurant.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked giggling as I struggled to keep up with him.

"We are in a beautiful island and I bet you haven't taken time off to enjoy it" he replied as he grinned back at me.

"How did you know?" I asked with fake shock.

"I'm psychic" he said in what he thought was a spooky voice (but it wasn't). I snorted and laughed.

"Or, you're a stalker!" I suggested and he acted offended. I smiled inwardly and thought to myself that maybe today was going to be a good day....

His hand felt warm against mine as we struggled to walk in a muddy dirt path to Josh's 'special place'.

"How do you even have a special place when we've been here for only a week?" I asked curious, I missed my step and tripped but Josh held tightly to me, not letting me fall.

"Thanks" I muttered and he smiled.

"My pleasure" he said softly then started talking and walking again.

"and to answer your question I haven't been locked on my suite like some other people have" he stated eyeing me with a sexy half smile.

"Whatever" I murmured and I heard him chuckle.

"We're almost there" he announced after a couple of more minutes.

At this point both of my legs were covered in mud because I kept accidentally sticking my feet in muddy water.

"You're trying to kill me aren't you, then you can just throw my body somewhere around this place and no one will find it" I stated suspiciously and he cracked up.

"You have a lot of imagination.... I can think of better things to do with you than killing you" he replied boldly and I was so shocked by his answer that I fell down on my face, because he didn't see it coming either and couldn't help me.

"Are you okay?" he asked quickly as he struggled to help me up without slipping himself.

I nodded slowly as I looked up at his face, he was a couple of inches taller than me but I didn't mind. I looked at his eyes for the first time since I met him.

"You have green eyes?" I asked stupidly and a smile spread over his face.

"Hazel, actually. Most times they're brown but since we are surrounded by so much green they look like this today" he answered.

I looked away as I felt my cheeks heating up and heard him sigh.

"We're here" he stated and I looked at where he was pointing and I bet my eyes lit up with excitement because in front of us was the equivalent to paradise. A 15 feet tall waterfall with a natural pool at the bottom and nice tree shading to rest under at the side.

"Clean water!" I shrieked as I ran towards Josh, took his hand and made him jump with me.

I screamed as I felt myself fall but it was a thrill I had never experienced and I loved it! When we fell on the water I had to swim up to take a breath and Josh appeared next to me.

"Are you crazy? Could have gave me a heads up" he accused and I just laughed.

"That was awesome" I gushed and he stopped frowning at me when he realized I was happy and grinned at me.

"I'm glad you're having a nice time, that was all I wanted" he said to me.

"Well you're doing a good job" I mentioned as I kicked the water with my feet to keep myself afloat.

I stared at Josh until he noticed and he stared at me back.

"What?" he asked after a while when he realized I wasn't going to say anything.

"Just wondering...." I trailed off trying to mess with him.

"Yeah?" he prompted and I just shrugged.

"Never-mind" I finished as I looked away embarrassed. I heard him swim closer to me and stop in front of me.

"Tell me" he demanded. I snorted.

"You don't scare me" I mocked and he laughed.

"Then you're not as smart as I thought you were" he told me, eyeing me intently and I put my chin up in a stubborn stance. He took my chin in his hand and pulled my face even higher so I was looking him in the eyes.

"You act a lot. There are no cameras here" he whispered. I noticed how his gaze lingered on my lips but then he let go of my chin and he was going to look away.

"And you can't act at all" I said quickly which made him look back at me and I smiled.

"Got ya" I said before wrapping my arms around his neck and pulling him closer to me and kissed him.
