Amber's POV
No it's not working every time I see him he always finds a way to escape. I know he's avoiding me but what's with the bruises and cuts? Matt bumps my arm and gets my attention back from the fight inside my mind. When I look up he bobs his head over to the lunch line. I throw him a questioning look before moving my head to see where he nodded. Arson's back is facing me while he's at the lunch line I stay seated and frozen not knowing what to do. He moves again and you could see his defined shoulder blades when he pays for the lunch he just picked up. I look across the cafeteria where I see Hale and the rest of the boys staring between me and Arson then just focusing on me. I meet Hales eyes and he looks conflicted about something I look at Arson again and see he's going outside instead of with Hale he moves his head to the side where I'm sitting but moves it forward just as quick as the first time. Watching him stings a little because I know he saw me. What hurt the most is that I couldn't move my feet to go after him. I wasn't the only one in the relationship that has control he has one over me too. The courtyard door closes and it's like someone hit play because everyone stares at me then starts whispering. Matt and Lilly shake their heads and I see my opportunity. Quickly I get out of my seat and run out the same door Arson just went through. People stare at me like I'm crazy as I look around for Arson and I might as well be. My eyes catch onto the figure leading into the small woods behind the school. I follow him all the way inside the trees while my hair keeps getting caught on some of the branches. He finally stops when he reaches the small clearing of the woods.
"Arson." His back is to me and he's acting like I'm not right behind him. "Arson." I continue to take small steps forward until I'm a couple of feet behind him. "Arson" I put my hand on his shoulder and he tenses a foreign reaction to my touch. "Arson please talk to me" I plead. He removes my hand from his shoulder but doesn't look at me or speak. "Arson please just please look at me."
"What do you want Amber?" He finally asks turning around but avoiding eye contact.
"I want you to look at me."
"Amber"
"No Arson look at me." He looks above my head but not at me. "Arson please." A few minutes pass before his eyes snap to mine. The look in them haunted me they were filled with hurt. The hurt that I caused and I never wanted to see that look in them again.
"What is it Amber?"
"I love you." His mouth opens slightly shocked at my words.
"What?"
"I love you." He laughs and shakes his head like a mad man.
"Don't."
"Arson."
"No Amber stop don't say things you don't mean."
"I mean it Arson I love you." I say starting to feel angry.
"No you don't." He says shaking his head getting serious again.
