Amber’s POV
Wow when Arson tries to avoid someone he really goes all out. It’s now Friday morning and I’m getting ready in my bedroom I tried looking for Arson all week but he was nowhere to be seen. He could really commit a crime and leave no trace that he did it. I do know that he slept with Jade on Monday but that’s about it and as for our date on Saturday I have no idea if that is still happening. Well I wouldn’t call it a date more as friends going out yeah that’s what we will call it. If Arson was my friend I would like to think he is.
“Amber hurry up mom wants you to eat breakfast” Jake yelled startling me from my thoughts.
“I’m not… okay I won’t be long.” I was about to tell him that I was not hungry but I knew they would question me there. I made my way down and picked up an apple that was on the table.
“Honey wouldn’t you rather eat a cinnamon bun I just made them this morning.” I looked at my mom’s hands where she had the rolls placed on a plate.
“Leave her alone Melody she doesn’t want one.” When my dad spoke up I was shocked he never spoke around me or to me for the past year and now he does I wonder what changed his mind. “Morning Amber” he kissed my forehead before sitting down with his paper. All of us just stared at him with our mouths opened and mom waved her hand around as if saying it’s time to go. Following her instructions I grabbed my key’s and yanked Jakes arm to get him to move. Once we were outside Jake asked me about dad.
“What was that about, dad never even speaks to you anymore?”
“I don’t know but maybe he’s finally accepting the fact that I’m not going anywhere.” He stays silent for a moment untill he finaly speaks.
“Yeah I think we all are thinking the same thing Amber.” Jake hug’s me as the words leave his mouth and I gladly hug him back. “Don’t tell anyone this Amber but I do love you sis.”
“Oh now that I have an advantage I plan to use it.” He pulls out of the hug and looks down at me because he is taller.
“Sis no one’s going to believe you but hey if you want to try I will deny everything and anything you say.” We both start laughing at each other and made our way into the car driving to school. When we arrived Jake tells me bye and then makes his way to his friends. I get out and make my way into school but of course I can’t keep my clumsy self out of trouble I run into someone again. We don’t fall down like last time because they wrap there arms around me hugging me to them. I get pushed up against the wall and feel someone breathing on my face.
“You can open your eyes Amb your safe.” I only know one person who calls me Amb and I open my eyes to find a closed eyed Arson two inches from my face. I see an eyelash on his cheek and without thinking I brush my hand on his face trying to remove it. He opens his eyes but doesn’t back away he just looks at me I then look closer and see a bruise on his cheek. I press a gentle palm to it and he closes his eyes letting the breath he was holding in out. He absentmindedly tilt’s and leans his cheek into my palm with his mint breath fanning me.
“I know that I’m safe thank you for the reassurance.” He opens his eyes and his brown orbs look into my Amber orbs. We don’t back away until again someone clears there throat to disturb us and of course it’s Cleo.
