Chapter 7

I barely slept last night. I tossed and turned. I am to anxious for today. We talked at dinner last night about our meeting with Alpha Max.

The part I am nervous about is us possibly mating afterwards. They do not know it.  I am still a virgin. I have only kissed a couple people. That is it.

I am lacking experience. They have been together for years. They are comfortable with each other and their bodies. I will be a hot mess.

Enough worrying about that. I need to get ready for my work day. I put on a pair of grey twill slacks and a blue checkered button down shirt. I wear my grey suede Chelsea boots.

I slick my hair back today. I look in the mirror and I approve. I grab my leather messenger bag and head for the door.

I head into the kitchen. I am surprised. Phoebe has me a cup of tea prepared how I like it.

She also has some avocado toast and fruit in a coconut out for all of us. Delicious and quick. I really appreciate it.

I walk around the counter to her and lean up to kiss her on her cheek. Thanks Phoebe this was unexpected and super sweet. She blushes and says no problem.

We are about the same height usually. Today she is wearing massive heels. She has at least three inches on me.

August grins and says I can get used to this. Seeing my mates blushing and happy. Me to August.

I walk over and kiss his cheek. He does not blush. He grabs my chin and kisses me on the lips.

Now I am blushing again. Ok enough of that. Let's eat August so we can get to work.

I would really like to solve this case. Then there will be one less person or group after me. I would also like to visit my friends and pack freely.

Gabe your friends can visit anytime.  Let us know. We can let the guards know when a guest will be arriving. Thank you both.

Maybe after I am more comfortable. I will invite Bruce and Tiana over for dinner to meet you both.

August and I finish our breakfast. We both kiss Phoebe on the cheek. Then we head to work.

When we arrive the place is in chaos. People are running around and it is definitely not the organized place. I was a few days ago.

  August is looking concerned. He looks at me and says something is obviously going on. Let's go find the chief and get the scoop.

We walk into the room we were in the other day. The Chief is standing in the center of the room. She is trying to get everyone's attention.

  August walks in and whistles super loud. Everyone quiets down. The chief thanks him.

She then says May I have your attention please. As you can tell something has happened. The suspects have hit again. This time not only one but two Orphanages in one night.

They are also getting closer. The first one they hit was around two hours away. It was in lion shifter territory. The second one was on elven territory. The orphanage was a part of the crystal clan.

I gasp, and August looks at me with concern. I look at the chief. Were there any injured or casualties? Only one injury. It was a smaller child age six.

They believe she woke up from her sleep to use the restroom. The problem was that the closest bathroom was across from the office. Where most of the files are kept.

  We believe she heard something and entered the office. Luckily they only knocked her out. She is scared but does not remember much.

Chief, the Elven crystal clan shares property lines with the Harvest moon pack. Their land is literally in my backyard. The harvest moon pack might be there next target.

I agree Gabe. We are going to make sure the cameras are all set up. We are also going to set up a surveillance team.

If they target the orphanage at Harvest moon. August we will be ready. We are going to talk to Ms. Sarah. We want to make sure the kids rooms are in secure lock down.

We want no wandering children. I also think we might have one of our detectives stay with Ms. Sarah. This way we can keep her safe.

I am worried if they realize we are on to them. They may retaliate with violence. Also if they realize that Harvest Moon is where you grew up. They may take hostages or harm someone for information.

August and you will go to Harvest moon and go over everything with Ms. Sarah and the Alpha. He agreed to have some of his warriors handy if they are needed.

Team B will go with you. They will set up security around the perimeter. They will make sure the entire area is under surveillance. We do not want to miss anything. We prefer to catch them in the act.

We know with children being on the premises. This is a risky mission. Chief why don't you send the children to the pack house for the night. They would be safe with the alpha and the many warriors that stay there.

That is a good idea. We need it to look like a normal night though. We do not want to raise to many suspicions. Chief I have an idea.

What is it Gabriel. The alpha sometimes hosts a movie night at the packhouse for the younger children. They then usually have a slumber party and stay the night.

That would leave only the teenagers in the orphanage. I believe their are only five at the time over thirteen years old. Three boys and two girls. If you go over the importance of them staying quiet in their room unless it is an absolute emergency. I think this plan might work.

I agree Gabe. I also think if it is ok with the Alpha and Ms. Sarah. Maybe all the teenagers, Ms. Sarah and the detective all stay together in one room for the night.

Our priority is to keep all involved safe. If they get away.  It will be fine as long as we obtain the information that is needed. I hope to catch their identity on camera in the act. Then we can proceed from there.

August since we believe Gabriel is the actual one being targeted. He needs to be kept safe and faraway tonight. On it Chief. We have a dinner meeting with Alpha Max tonight to go over the importance of keeping Gabriel safe.

His pack is the most feared in this country. Gabe will be safe. I promise with my last breath. I will keep him safe.

I nudge August with my elbow. No one here knows we are mates or my huge secret. The chief now looks suspicious.

August nods at me. Chief, Gabe and I need to discuss some matters privately in your office. When you are available.

The Chief announces loudly everyone back to work. August, Gabe and Team B be prepared to leave for Harvest Moon in one hour. Detective Kara Jackson you will have the task of staying and protecting Ms. Sarah. That is all for now.

Gabriel and August with me to my office. Yes mam August responded. I just nod. I am nervous and August is on it.

Hey calm down Gabe. She needs to know we are mates. That is all. She will be fine with it.
