Chapter 20

It was night.

Lisa has been out for quite some time now, all she did was watch people walk, cars passing by, doing totally nothing. She jiggles the car keys in her hand as she sits on a bench by a riverside. She doesn't even know where she is, all she needed was space and time to be alone.

She drinks a cup of coffee that she bought from an old woman selling them in a small trailer that only costs a dollar but she gave the old lady a 20 just because she feels bad, knowing she's still working her ass off at that very age.

It was windy and she thank the gods that she's wearing thick layers of clothes.

"Lisa!"

The dhampir turns and to her surprise, she sees Somi running towards her along with Vernon, who both looked very afraid and worried. The vice has blood on her hands with small wounds on her face and the werewolf got a huge slash straight on his chest, his shirt was torn and he looks beaten up.

She stands up and turns to them, "What-"

Somi grabbed her shoulders and breathes heavily, "W-We need to g-go back..." she says catching her breath, "Everyone...everyone is in danger!"

Lisa glanced at Vernon, who just gave her a nod, "Wait, what happened?" she asks, "Why are you both...wounded?"

He grunts in pain, "You need to go back in the castle with us, something happened," he informed her with a sad expression. "Jay and Rosé were...held hostage, we can't find Taemin everywhere and...and-"

The dhampir clutched the keys in her hand. "And what?" she asks, making them continue.

"They turned on Jennie and she's being tortured as we speak by that fucking big man who just popped out of nowhere-"

Lisa quickly jogs to her car with the two vampires following her behind. She lets Somi sit on the passenger while Vernon sits at the back, she then handed him a small box of first aid kit to treat his own huge wound along his front.

She drives as fast as she can, ignoring the traffic lights and speed limits. She needs to arrive there immediately, before things could get any worse. Somi holds on tight as the car swivels sharply to right and left, Vernon couldn't apply bandages properly on his stomach.

Somi was scared for her life for once.

The dhampir drives, with nothing in her mind but to save everyone, and most especially, Jennie. She knows she shouldn't but she deep in her soul, she knows she wants to.

And Jennie would want to be saved by her too.

They breached the Jeonju's secured entrace and soon as they arrive, they see every house getting burned and vampires killing those who don't have the experience in fighting. They were killing women, old people and children.

Lisa gripped the wheel and tries to ignore what's going on around her. She parked the car and was about to go out when Somi grabbed her arm and stopped her.

The vampire shakes her head, "Wait, stay here," she was the one who left the vehicle and cracked a random vampire's neck. She took his clothing and goes back to the car and handed it to Lisa. "Wear this, they can't see you," she says.

She obliged and puts the robe on and the hood over her head. Vernon then wears a hat and Somi does the same. They all leave the car and Lisa followed where the two are going.

"What the fuck is happening here? Why are they killing each other?" she asks, almost in a whisper.

Vernon looks around, "I have no idea what happened but everyone who sided with Jennie were either killed or locked up, that's what happened to us. We just somehow, escaped and they're going to hunt all of us. Including you," he tells her with care.
