Chapter 36

The newest vampire strides casually in to Lisa's room, seeing her putting on her combat shoes. She smiles at her and hops towards the older vampire and stands in front of her.

Yunji grinned, "I won!"

Lisa raises her eyebrows, "Won where?" she ties her laces without breaking eye contact with the younger girl.

"Jennie took me for a short practice outside and I won," she says excitedly and tells the story with action, "I was so strong!!!"

Then, they heard footsteps coming and see the brunette with her clothes covered in dirt and leaves. Lisa couldn't help but lets out a chuckle, seeing how defeated the woman was and Jennie just rolled her eyes at her as she scoffs.

Yunji pouted her lips and grabbed Jennie's hand, "Please, don't be mad at me," she pleaded with puppy eyes.

The vampire shakes her head, "I'm not mad. I just..." she pauses and glared at the other vampire who still wears this smirk on her face, "...don't like it that you told this jerk that I lost, now she won't stop teasing me about it,"

"Sorry,"

"It's okay, Yunji, go change your clothes," she says and the girl happily nods before leaving the two of them alone. Jennie slaps Lisa's arm with a loud sound, "You need to fuck off,"

Lisa hisses and rubs the part where she got hit but continued to laugh, "You lost to a newbie and worse, a child?" she snorts and shakes her head, "I think you're getting weak, Jennie," she teasingly clicks her tongue and stands up.

Only for her to be pushed against the wall, the brunette's arm pinning her chest down as her red eyes stare directly at her normal brown ones.

The younger vampire smirks, "That was hot," she muttered and grabs the other woman's wrist, "Alright, you're not weak. Take it easy, tiger." she says and carefully takes her hand, to place a soft kiss on knuckles.

Jennie's face immediately went red and she quickly shoves her hand away. She clears her throat, trying to ignore the fact that her ears were burning hot and the hairs in her body were tensed with the way Lisa said those things and kisses her hand.

What an asshole!

The taller vampire chuckles and wrapped her arms around the brunette's waist, hugging her from behind. She squeezed her tight, feeling their warm bodies against each other.

"Can I ask you a question?" Jennie broke the growing tension between them.

"Anything,"

She looks down at Lisa's hands resting on her stomach and reaches for fingers to play with, "Why do you hate vampires when you're one? It's okay if you don't wanna answer,"

Lisa rests her chin on the vampire's shoulder, letting her scent enter her nostrils, "I...I just woke up one day without my parents around. Kai's father was the one who became my father figure since then," she replies blankly, "I grew hate on them for leaving me, I don't even know where they are. I just assumed they're dead, because if they're still alive, they would have come back for me."

The brunette listened, quietly.

"I began hating on the vampires because of them and I tried so hard to become one of the dhampirs, tried to forget who I really am. I was too desperate to erase the fact that I was one of them simply because I don't want to be associated with people who abandon their child without any explanation."

"When did it happen?"

"I was seven,"

Jennie thought of something and turns to face her, she held her face with her hands and gently caressed her skin with her thumbs, "There was a war between vampires and humans many years ago. I watched my parents die in front of me when I was eight, in that exact war that happened in Iksan. Humans attacked us with pitchforks, torches, spears. They blamed us for the multiple deaths that happened back then," she purses her lips and sighs, "A lot of purebloods died, including my parents but I, fortunately somehow survived for whatever reason there may be."
