In high school, you added another brother to your pile in the form of an extraordinarily bright prodigy child. He was younger than Tae, but nearly as smart as Namjoon, and when you found him in your homeroom class, you adopted him instantly.
Jungkook was a bright, funny, smart kid and he made you laugh with his antics. But he was in awe of Namjoon. Everything Namjoon did was something Kookie tried to emulate until it wore on even you, Namjoon's biggest fan.
It also seemed to wear on Seokjin interestingly enough, though you hadn't thought much of it at the time.
Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook quickly turned into an impenetrable unit. The three of them went everywhere together and it was easier to add all three of them to something you were doing rather than just one or two.
But Jungkook had decided that just like only Namjoon was your Oppa, only you were going to be his Noona. And just like that, you acquired a protector from both ends of the age scale.
Sadly, just in time too. If middle school had been awful, high school was hell.
You used the money from your folks to pay for those salon visits you had once only wondered about, and even though your hair was now just as black-brown as everyone else's, your name still marked you as foreign.
You and Yoongi sat together in the cafeteria, waiting for the others to show up and join you in study club when you had gotten your first major shock to your system of high school.
You had heard voices coming down the hallway and had identified one of them as Namjoon's. You didn't pay attention to the others, there were many people in your study club these days. Namjoon's test scores had only gotten better, and he was quickly reaching a spot where even you struggled to keep up with him. His infinite patience had been tried several times this summer as he walked you through some of the more complicated maths he was doing and though you were doing ok, you worried that you were going to fall out of the #2 test score spot this year.
You felt Yoongi stiffen next to you, and his hand wrapped around your wrist.
"Livie let's study somewhere else today," he said quickly and you raised your head to stare at him in absolute confusion.
"What," you started but were interrupted by a flurry of giggles.
"Oh Oppa, that's hilarious. You're so smart and funny too, you'd make the best of boyfriends," came a voice behind you and now you stiffened as well.
You didn't need to turn to know it was the voice of one Choi SunMi, your chief tormentor for this year so far.
You looked at Yoongi, whose pale face was quickly losing whatever color he had left, until he appeared to be the same color as the page you had been reading. You knew that Yoongi's face meant that SunMi was not directing her comment towards Seokjin.
"Do you think so," came Namjoon's hopeful voice, and this time when your eyes held Yoongi's he winced slightly and reached forward to move his hand from your wrist, to wrap your fingers through his.
This wasn't new, you had held hands with Yoongi since he had declared himself your brother all those years ago. But suddenly, it held more meaning for you.
You squeezed his hand once, letting him know you were ok, then disentangled your hand and turned around to face what was behind you.
Sure enough, SunMi had chosen to all but wrap herself around Namjoon, who annoyingly looked thrilled by the attention. Jimin and Taehyung stood off to one side, Tae's face twisted into a look of disgust and Jimin shaking his head as he nudged Tae towards the other side of Yoongi.
