Fighting Back

That next Monday however, you had begun to get a series of emails from the attorney representing your parents. They were all very apologetic but requested information about why you had moved from the dorms and what was happening.

Finally, Namjoon and Yoongi had had enough.

"Call and make an appointment with this guy. I know he's in New York, but we need to talk to him face to face. Make his people set up a video call Livie, these demands are getting weirder and weirder. Your inheritance can't be that much money," complained Yoongi. Namjoon was also upset, but you thought that was because one of the demands was that you needed to stop hanging out with those 'Korean boys' so often.

It was a demand you heartily intended to ignore, but Yoongi was right. It was time to figure out what was going on.

You sent the email and got back a very fast response from the attorney's office that puzzled all of you until Hoseok had read it.

He had huffed out a laugh.

"Livie, that's lawyer speak for "I am fucking pissed off at what my clients are doing," and Hoseok had pointed out to Yoongi where to read between the lines in the email. After re-reading that email and several before it, Yoongi agreed.

When the meeting was eventually set up, you sat around the kitchen table in the main unit of the house. Namjoon sat next to you, Yoongi on your other side, Hoseok on Namjoon's right, and you faced your laptop.

Jimin and Tae had set the stage, Jin was doing the light direction and Jungkook made sure everything was working. Taehyungie had helped you choose an outfit today and now he helped you with the accessories a moment before you went to take your seat.

You sat next to Joon, and he reached for your hand under the table. Squeezing it once, he leaned over to whisper in your ear.

"It will be fine Livie, no matter what this man says. We're not going anywhere."

On the other side of you, Yoongi gave your leg a pat under the table. You leaned over Namjoon to look at Hoseok as he sat down and when he nodded you looked to Jimin.

"Are we set Jimin PD-nim," you asked and there was a last second flurry of activity from Jimin, Tae and Jin as they fixed collars and adjusted hair before they too stepped back. Then all eyes went to Jungkook, who nodded.

"Placing the call now," he said out loud. Namjoon squeezed your hand once more, and there was a slight delay before the call connected and on screen you saw a man in his middle sixties. He had a friendly enough face, though right now he seemed a bit taken aback.

"Miss Scott? I didn't realize I would be meeting with more than just yourself today," he began, and you smiled a little.

"Apologies Mr. Bleyzac. This is my advisory team," you said and introduced Namjoon, Yoongi and Hoseok in turn.

The eyes of the attorney stayed on Namjoon's a moment before he acknowledged the others in a polite greeting.

"I'm sure you have some questions," he offered and with that you let Yoongi and Hoseok get the ball rolling.

You had a laundry list of questions, and Yoongi and Hoseok had both worked to make sure the phrasing was such that it was something Mr. Bleyzac could answer without violating attorney-client privilege of your parents. But also phrased in such a way that you could get the most information.

As soon as the questions began, Mr. Bleyzac looked amused, then delighted as he realized what you had done. The questions wandered through how much longer you'd be under the eye of the watcher, and whether or not the conditions about your clothes and the dorms were things that had been part of the original deal to be forced to Stanford or if they were things your parents had added later.
