"cherry!" junebug yelled her name as she stumbled out of the other car, wasted and out her mind. he was recording on snapchat, documenting their long night of club hopping.

the lot of them had been together just twenty minutes prior but to it felt like an eternity.

she ran up to him, smiling widely. she locked her arm around his, pinching his cheeks affectionately. "oh my days! i've missed you. where's dezzie!?"

june had rode in the car with his brother, cevon, munie and kush. and because that car was full she ended up riding with kemani, ezrah, and her friend karyme- a brown skinned girl with pretty features and a slim build. they went to uni together and occasionally hung out.

they were all varying levels of drunk and high, though tahj and a'lamar were the most sober ones out of the group.

"still in the car. yo, dezzie!" the boy called for his older brother.

jamilah was trying to balance the double lives she was living. but it was becoming increasingly hard. alcohol seemed to make everything brighter when she was annoyed by her life, and she found herself going out more and more as an excuse to get wasted. this was the third time this week she'd gone out on a weekday and it was starting to get out of control. plus, she was running out of excuses to dodge kaazim.

"yo, is that cherry screaming like a damn banshee?" cevon coughed, swatting at the cloud of smoke he had blown out.

"no!" she flipped him off.

"no!" he mocked.

"cevon!" she let out a whiney giggle. "fuck off."

"stop usin' my govi, edyiat." he gave her a screw face. he was a few years younger than her and acted like an annoying younger brother, the complete opposite of how junebug was.

she returned it. "i'm not an idi-"

she was cut off by karyme leaning against her for support. "babe, i'm- i'm gonna- be sick." she spoke very careful, breathing manually.

"kemani, i told you quit drivin' like a lunatic." jamilah chortled as the girl hung from her arm. she didn't think karyme was serious until she was doubled over, dry heaving. "oh fuck. look what you did!"

kemani was a year older than cevon, but was just as reckless and immature.

"man, what the fuck? man didn't do that!" he yelled defensively. he looked silly, one side of his head in plaits and the other loose and sticking out. "don't be blamin' me. i didn't get her drunk!"

a'lamar, being more receptive to what was happening, pulled karyme to the side of the road and let her throw up. "man, this shit is gross." his nose crinkled as the rest of them laughed like children. "i need you to pattern up."

karyme grimaced a bit. "kay was drivin' mad. i can handle my liquor, i swear."

"yeah, sure, whatever you say, remii." he rubbed her back gently. "let me know when you're good, i've got some water in the car."

jamilah sat on the curb, taking a couple shots from the bottle of hennessy they were passing around.

izz was yelling loudly at kemani who made a joke about his vision. "you joke man, your heads so flat in the back, man could put a ruler against it."

jamilah snorted and the liquor went up her nose, burning as she choked on giggles. luckily for junebug, he'd panned the camera over just in time to catch it happening.
