13| Involuntary commitment

The moment Mickey and I left Ian alone, he attempted to make a run for it. He nearly escaped, but Lip came home just in time to stop him from going anywhere. When we managed to get downstairs, Mickey and Lip restrained him, both of them trying to hold Ian up to a nearby wall, clearly struggling since Ian had built up his muscles and was therefore stronger than he used to be.

"IAN!" I started to panic when Ian managed to push Mickey away for a few seconds, before I stepped in, punching Ian as hard as I could. With that, Ian dropped his head in pain, relaxing slightly, so we could get him tied up or something.

"We need to tie him up or drug him or something similar. He won't go to a clinic like this." I warned, watching as Mickey calmed down, holding his jaw.

"How the fuck are we supposed to do that? Ian is taller and clearly stronger than all of us." Lip rolled his eyes.

"I think my dad might have some sedatives at home." Mickey exhaled.

"Really? You'd really sedate your own boyfriend?" I was concerned.

"He needs some serious help, even if he doesn't want it." Mickey hissed before leaving the house.

Lip and I waited for 15 minutes before Mickey returned back to the house. We hadn't done anything to Ian, who coincidentally just laid on the couch and didn't move. When Mickey walked through the front door, I was relieved to see that he wasn't holding a needle.

"One of these should knock him out for at least 3-4 hours." Mickey explained, handing me one white pill. I placed it in a glass of water, watching as it dissolved.

"Ian, have some water, just calm down." I handed Ian the cup, watching as he lazily downed the cup within a few minutes. His eyes slowly closed as he put the cup down.

Without warning, his head hit the pillow on the couch.

"Fuckin' hell, Mick. That shit must be heavy!" Lip scoffed.

"Well, I did steal it from my dad's medicine cabinet..." Mickey laughed.

"Okay. We need to get him into the car and to the clinic without waking him up." I exhaled, worried.

Mickey didn't hesitate to throw Ian's sedated body over his shoulder, eliminating any chance of Lip and me hurting ourselves. With my assistance, Mickey got Ian carefully into the car, still not having woken up, which made our lives easier.

I watched as Mickey got in the car beside Ian, placing Ian's head on his lap as he watched Ian sleep, having no idea where he was. I got into the front passenger seat, turning slightly to see Mickey holding back tears as he gazed out the window, trying to avoid looking at Ian. My heart was broken. Watching Mickey struggle to keep the tears away was saddening. He clearly wanted Ian to be okay, but that came with a cost, a cost that Mickey was afraid of.

I didn't know their history. I didn't know what had exactly happened in the early stages of their relationship. All I knew was their arrangement. All I knew is they confided in Mandy for help.

When Lip pulled up and parked the car, he walked inside the clinic, not coming back out to the car for a solid 20 minutes. I helped Mickey get Ian out of the car, watching as a few doctors and nurses put Ian into a wheelchair, taking him inside. Mickey couldn't hold it in any longer. He had been keeping his composure, although not very well, and he was finally letting it out. He turned to me, wrapping his arms around my torso as he cried, clearly unhappy by the situation he had found himself in.

"You know it's what's best for him Mick. The sooner he gets diagnosed, the better." I sighed, just listening to Mickey's sobs.

"Yeah, it's funny how I fell in love with the only Gallagher who might have known mental issues." Mickey rolled his eyes.

"No one could've predicted who would suffer from this. For years we've been playing a game of Mental Illness Russian Roulette. Monica's shitty DNA being the bullet. I always feared it would be me, or Lip, but no one could've predicted Ian being the affected Gallagher." I exhaled, Mickey rolling his eyes.
