~ALLIE POV~
I sat down in a chair, while Bernard sat on the couch.
We sat in silence, avoiding looking at each other.
"Why are you in here?" He asked.
I was silent for a moment, before saying, "I was trying to defend you."
Bernard said nothing, but looked away. I sighed as I looked around the cabin. "Is this your place?"
"No," he said. "This is just a spare house that we have."
"Really?"
"No! Of course it's my place!"
I rolled my eyes. "Then why was I thrown here?"
Bernard shrugged, and I sighed again. "Look, I'm not happy about this either. Besides with us both locked in here, Curtis is next in charge."
I shuddered thinking about that. No offense to Curtis, but he was not equipped to be head elf. After all, he was only 900 years old.
"Why isn't Coco next in line?" I asked. "She's your sister right?"
"She's too young," he snapped.
"She's older then Curtis," I said.
"So what?" he snapped.
I rolled my eyes. "Alright, you overprotective brother."
"I am not overprotective," he hissed. "You need to just keep your mouth shut. Why couldn't you have just not said anything out there? You always cause problems!"
"Why do you hate me so much?" I asked standing up.
"I don't hate you," he said, his eyes softened slightly. "How could I hate you, I don't even know you."
"But you don't want me here."
"Correct."
"Why not?"
"Because you're annoying." Bernard hissed. "Besides I don't know why we need a Santa's helper, or at least, why do we have to replace them? Why did they have to replace me?"
I went to yell back, but I stopped when I processed Bernard's last sentence.
Why did they have to replace me?
What the holly jolly did that mean?
