Kim Jongin couldn't really remember this woman who was now lying dead on the floor because of his mother, a plastic sheet spread out under her so that she wouldn't stain the insanely expensive carpet with her blood. The sight of this woman lying prone on the floor with her head turned to the side and staring in his direction with those cold and empty eyes caused a nausea in Kai that was indescribable.

He pressed his lips together so tightly and swallowed at regular intervals to suppress the gag reflex.

Jongin had killed a human being for the first time and did not feel cleansed by it at all. Rather the opposite was the case. Sullied and dirty, the clothes felt on his skin and he would have loved to get under the shower immediately, rub that feeling with soap and wash away. His mother, on the other hand, was calmly cleaning the barrel of the extremely rare and expensive pistol. With an immense coldness, no feeling in her face, she put her gaze again on the still trembling Kim son. Still he could not grasp what had happened, could not believe what had happened.

By his hand, his own act, someone innocent died. Someone whose life was beautiful. Someone who had done nothing wrong.

But Jongin's mother disagreed.

Still the thought had taken hold that the deceased woman deserved it.

That she had deserved to die that night. To lose her life that cruel night.

The clang echoed in the room.

The clang of the knife Kai let fall to the ground. He was rigid from his deed, could no longer carry this murder weapon with him.

He didn't want to feel this way. He would never have wanted to go through this experience, but there was no way back. And after a quick glance at his mother, he realized there was nothing he could have done about it either.

Jennie still stood rooted to the spot behind her lover, watching the whole spectacle, saying nothing. She had kept silent the whole time and looked as if it were a circus visit. Swallowing hard, the young student then spoke softly, "I-I'm going to go call my parents, find out how-how they are." After this sentence was uttered, she immediately fled to the upper floor and disappeared into the bedroom of her steady boyfriend.

However, the quick exit, shaking hands and stuttering made Kai wonder. He knew how his girlfriend stood on the subject and he also knew that she had told him she didn't want to know about her parents today.

She was aware that they were safe and had explained to the older man that she didn't think it was necessary to keep inquiring about their well-being.

On the other hand, her father had been hospitalized today, he thought to himself, maybe she was worried after all?
