The loud breathing of the two girls filled the room. They were trying to recover from the shock that made their hearts beat so loudly. They were still leaning against the cabinet they had pushed in front of the door, and when Ms. Choi had asked that question, dead silence had fallen. Just the name of her lover had caused Lien to hold her breath and stare at the myriad screens flickering before them like a whimsical canvas, showing all area inside and outside the hospital.

The security camera screens glared so brightly in their faces that Lien had to blink a few times. She thought she had misheard.

This was certainly a bad joke, wasn't it?

"No ... no! That can't be right. Soobin is with his brother ...", Lien contradicted, but more to herself and with a hint of disbelief in her voice.

Why would Ms. Choi lie about what she had seen on the TV?

Then she still decided to take a look at the screen the patient was pointing at.

Her heart was beating even louder than before and beads of sweat were dripping from the pregnant woman's forehead. The expectant mother instinctively hoped that the older woman was mistaken and just mistook a random purger for her loved one. With slow, hesitant steps, Lien approached the surveillance cameras.

The woman pointed to a black-haired boy who was in the process of pushing a smaller boy against the large yellow trash can in front of the hospital. He seemed enraged, his face flushed red, and Lien couldn't help but zoom in on the sight of the purger's face with a mouse click, thus revealing his identity.

She was left breathless when she actually saw the father of her baby dressed like that. That night ...

Her heart ached when she saw the familiar red ears, the snub nose, and the mysterious eyes she had fallen so madly in love with back then.

Her heart ached as a single tear rolled down her cheek and landed on the monitoring room table.

The young secretary took a deep breath before clutching her stomach, her heart pounding. She couldn't sort out her thoughts; she didn't know what to think.

Instead, only a single name left her lips ...

And that was that of her beloved ...

"Soobin ..."

That simple name had never sounded so croaky as soon as it crawled across her lips, and as she suddenly blacked out for seconds, her knees gave way and she slumped back to the floor.

She felt numb, as if she had been slapped in the face with that fact. Soobin had lied to her. Had lied to her coldly to participate in the Purge himself. He had never gone to his brother, his family, to protect her. Instead, he'd put her in this hospital, assuming she'd be safe here. Without him.
