Chapter 12

Rose's POV

Silence filled the air as the car came to a stop outside my apartment just like it had for the whole car ride. Lunch was amazing and despite everyone knowing that I had a moment outside, they acted as if they hadn't seen a thing. We laughed and everything flowed as a family which this time made me smile. 

I learnt that Anna was quite a character at the dinner table tossing peas at people every now and then trying to be discrete. She wasn't discrete at all. But it seemed as if everyone was expecting it and they just laughed or passed it on.

Nikki later explained to me that last time someone threw something back a whole food fight started, that even left food on the roof. She said she stormed out of the house in anger leaving it for everyone to clean up and they learnt their lesson. She'd tried telling Anna off but that proved useless.

I knew the car had stopped but neither of use made a move to get out. It wasn't because there was a tension as such, more the fact that I felt there were unspoken words that had to be said, I just couldn't find them. Will seemed to read the situation and turned off the ignition.

"You enjoyed today?" Will asked, looking over at me.

"I did thank you" I replied turning my head to face him too and flashed him a smile. 

"I'm glad" he replied giving a little nod. Instantly the air turned back to silence and we got didn't know what to say.

Will let out a little chuckle followed by his adorable smile. "What?" I questioned smiling over at him.

"I feel like this is a movie" he chuckled and I gave him a questioning glance, "Usually its movies that have the awkward moments in the car"

I smiled at what he said but I knew deep down that there was a little more than that. In those movies usually the boy and girl would be on a date or at least have romantic interest. 

I became a little uneasy but I hoped it wouldn't show in my face because I kept the smile there.

"I better get going then" I said opening the door and stepping out. 

Will rushed to get out of his side and leaned up against the car, "Do you want me to walk you up?" he offered.

"No" I said a little too suddenly, "I mean that’s not necessary" I added hopefully catching myself.

"Ok" he said with a small smile but I saw his lips falter for the millisecond when I refused and it made me feel a little bad.

"I had a great day though" I smiled.

"We should do it again sometime" he replied, a hopeful look in his eyes.

"Sure" I agreed throwing him a smile before turning around and walking into the building. I could almost feel his gaze watching me as I walked away and I knew he was because I never heard a car door close.

I made my way up the stairs for some unknown reason until I realised I should be taking the lift but by then I was only 2 floors away from my apartment so I just kept walking up. 

I roughly tossed my apartment keys onto my kitchen table and let out a huge sigh. Unlike the sighs of frustration that I'd been using a lot of lately, this one was just exhaustion. Mentally and Physically I was drained.

Between worrying about Wills emotions, meeting new people, breaking down and just all the social interaction I wasn't sure how I'd gotten through it all without passing out.
