'Guys, I got 3' Arnav shouted as he came running into the canteen. Adwetha and Manasvi were having coffee.
'Wow man, you are lucky. You know I got only 2.' Manasvi told in a tone of pretend sadness. They were talking about the number of proposals and love letters they had received since it was Valentine's day.
'How many proposals did you get Adwetha?' Arnav asked as he sat beside her.
'I got 5, the highest. But I feel sorry for Manasvi because she's not going to get more than three.' Adwetha blurted out.
Manasvi wanted to ask what she was talking about but suddenly Arnav interrupted 'So guys, how about we go out for dinner today?'
'That's a nice idea.' Adwetha told excitedly.
'Dinner? What for?' Manasvi asked.
'Come on Manasvi, today is valentine's day. Do you really need some other reason?' Adwetha asked.
'Yeah I know today's valentine's day. But none of us here have a valentine so what's the use of celebrating?' Manasvi asked.
'Let us make that the reason for our celebration. Look, none of us have a valentine this year so let us celebrate our single lives. And by the way do you actually need a reason to come out to dinner with us?' Arnav asked, trying to convince Manasvi. It nearly took Arnav and Adwetha fifteen minutes to convince her.
Arnav chose to pick them up from their homes but Manasvi disagreed saying she could manage on her own.
Arnav wouldn't agree 'I know you can manage but I have not yet decided on the place so how will you come?' Arnav asked, matter of factly.
'Why think of a different place? Let us go to the same restaurant we usually go to.' Manasvi said.
'No yarr. Let us try something new this time. I am fed up with that same old restaurant.' Adwetha told.
'Ok, I get it. Today, nothing is going to happen according to my wishes so do whatever you feel like.' Manasvi said and left, feeling reluctant. The moment she was out of sight, Adwetha high-fived Arnav.
'God...finally. The first part of our plan is completed. Can't wait to see what is going to happen tonight.' Arnav said.
'Let's hope for the best.' Adwetha said, her fingers crossed. Arnav messaged Viki and left for the class with Adwetha.
......
'So where are we going?' Manasvi asked as she entered and settled in the car. 'You'll get to know when we reach there.' Arnav said and sped the car.
'I think there is something happening without my notice. Adwetha at least you tell me what he is up to?'
Manasvi asked. Adwetha just shrugged and got busy with her phone. 'Hey where is Viki?' Manasvi asked.'He has already reached the restaurant.' Arnav answered.
Arnav stopped the car in front of the restaurant. They got down and went inside. It had beautiful interiors, high ceiling and dimly lit interior. Adwetha and Arnav were heading towards the backdoor. Manasvi was confused and asked where they were going. Arnav told her not to ask any more questions and to just follow them. They reached the garden area of the restaurant. A beautiful setting was made there for their dinner. Viki was waiting there for them. He was dressed in a tux. He looked more handsome than usual. The place was beautifully decorated with red roses and was illuminated with colorful lights. They all occupied their seats and ordered food.
As they waited for the food, Arnav got a call and walked out saying he would be back in two minutes. Even after five minutes, he did not return so Adwetha went in search of him. Manasvi offered to call him and check where he was but, Adwetha did not listen and she too left.
Now, only Manasvi and Viki were left. Manasvi seemed worried but Viki calmed her saying that they were not kids and wouldn't get lost. Viki stood up and was about to go somewhere when Manasvi asked 'Now where the hell are you going?'
Viki took a step towards her and placed his finger on her lips 'Shh...' He walked to a palm tree which was behind him. He bent down and took out a beautiful bouquet of roses which was hidden among the bushes. He came near Manasvi who had already gotten up from her seat and was eagerly waiting to see what he was going to do. He knelt down before her and proposed to her.
'I have heard of stars which live on earth but never seen one until I saw you.
I have heard of rainbows which can talk but never talked to one until I talked to you.
I have heard of flowers which can dance but never danced with one until I danced with you.
I know it was lame but I couldn't think of anything better. Manasvi - this sound is music to my ears. You made me feel that you are the reason for my birth. Every time I see you, my heart skips a beat. You are the queen in the palace of my heart. I love you. Will you allow me to be your king? Will you accept my love?'Manasvi was super excited. She took the bouquet from him and told that she too loved him. They hugged each other. Arnav and Adwetha had been watching everything from a distance. They came forward and congratulated their friends.
'So now I understand why Adwetha had said that I wouldn't get any proposals from now on. Did you know that I would accept his love? Am I that predictable?' Manasvi asked, putting together the pieces now.
'Of course. Who would even reject a boy like Viki?' Adwetha said.
'And we also know that you too have feelings for him.' Arnav added.
'You guys know me too well, don't you?' Manasvi asked and Arnav and Adwetha shrugged.
Viki took out a ring from his pocket and asked 'May I?' Manasvi stretched her hand in agreement. Viki put the ring and kissed her hand.
