'But you cannot joke about such matters.' Adwetha screamed, annoyed with Ridhi's behaviour

'I know that and I'm not joking. Please stop yelling'

'Let's talk later. Let me first tell this to everyone'

Ridhi stopped her again 'No, you are not going to tell anybody about this'

'I will tell everybody about this and that too NOW. And you are not going to stop me'

Ridhi did not know how to stop her. She looked all around and spotted a surgical knife on a table. She took it and held it to her neck and threatened to kill herself 'Adwetha if you tell this to anyone, I will kill myself and I'm not just threatening you with this. It's a warning. I will really kill myself if you take one more step'

'No Ridhi you are not going to do anything like that.'

'Then, you must not tell this to anyone'

'Why?'

'Because I'm pregnant. Yes, you heard me right I am carrying Sid and my baby in me' Adwetha could not believe what she heard. Ridhi continued 'I got to know it a few days ago. I discussed the matter with Sid and he told me to keep the matter a secret until we get married. We planned to tell this to our parents soon after the marriage but now...S-Sid he l-left me alone.' Ridhi cried uncontrollably, she sat down on the bed, unable to stand anymore and Adwetha made her drink some water. Ridhi was unable to speak for a while. Then slowly, she recovered and started speaking slowly in a shaky voice 'A-Adwetha you know my family very well. You know how much I struggled to make them accept my relationship with S-Sid and now how do you expect me to say to them that I am p-pregnant. I may be able to convince my parents but how shall I convince society. I will have to go on explaining everything to everyone all my life '

Adwetha interrupted 'Ridhi do you regret about what has happened?'

'NO, Adwetha I do not have any regrets. Do not think that I am scared about what people will talk about me but I am thinking about what they will speak about my child and how they will treat him/her. Why should my son/daughter suffer for what I and Sid did?'

'Have you spared a thought as to what your parents say and how would they receive the news?' Adwetha asked with concern.

'Yes, I have thought about it and I feel that the intensity of pain which my parents will have if they think I am dead will be less than the pain which they will receive if they get to know this matter. Anyhow, my sister's there with them to console them. I know sooner than later, they will overcome the pain of losing me and the presence of my sister will blunt the pain.'

'I really don't know whether what you are doing is right or wrong.'

'Even I don't. But right now, this is my only option. I can't think of anything else. Adwetha please, allow me to do what I am doing.'

'Okay but at least let me tell Arnav, Viki and Manasvi about this.'

'No Adwetha, please, do not do that. I did not want anybody to know this. Not even you but circumstances made me reveal the truth to you. But I do not want anybody else to know about me being alive. Please promise me that you will keep it a secret. Promise me' Ridhi asked, stretching out her hands and Adwetha unwillingly promised her.
