Her day was filled with boredom. They started off walking dogs, which Naruto thought he needed the biggest one and that ended up with him in a minefield. Then they babysat and could barely get the kid to quit crying. Then they ended up picking weeds and Naruto threw out the whole flower bed. By the time they got back to the Hokage's mansion, Naruto was so frustrated and amped up that he couldn't see straight.
"Alright, so we have another babysitting mission for you," Lord Third said. Naruto groaned and stopped him.
"No no no! I'm tired of these so-called missions, give us something harder!" Naruto yelled. Iruka got frustrated and then Lord Third started to explain why they were getting these missions until he found out none of them were paying attention to him.
"Fine, Naruto was a harder mission, then he will get one. You will be guarding someone on their way home," He said. Naruto turned around all excited.
"Oooo, who are we guarding? A lord, a princess?" He asked. Lord Third called for the person. An old man walked in and he smelled of booze.
"I am Tazuna, the master bridge builder," He said. He looked at the four of the kids and scoffed.
"These kids are going to protect me? You, the short one with the funny look on his face, are you really a ninja?" He asked. Naruto stood straight and chuckled. The four of them lined up to see he was in fact the shortest person there. He got upset and tried to attack Tazuna. Itsumiko held Naruto by his caller.
"Naruto, you can't attack the person we are supposed to be guarding," Kakashi said. Naruto groaned and settled down enough to where she let go of him.
"You will be leaving in an hour to the Land of Waves," Lord Third said and they walked out. Itsumiko had a bad feeling about this mission. Her and Kakashi walked into the house and began to pack. Kakashi could sense her emotions and walked into her room.
"What's up Itsu," He said. She sealed some more kunai in her scroll and put it in her back pocket.
"I have a bad feeling about this mission. I don't think it's a C-rank," She said. Kakashi pulled her bag away from her to make her look at him.
"Is this about your mom?" He asked her. Itsumiko looked away from him.
"They said it was B-rank and it turned out to be an S-ranked mission that the Anbu should have gone on," She said. Kakashi sighed and grabbed her hand.
"Nothing will happen on this mission. I will protect you, Itsu," He said. She looked at him.
"I know," She said. Kakashi nodded and went back into his room to pack. She zipped up her bag and walked out into the living room waiting for her dad. He emerged from his room and they shut the lights off and locked the door. They were the first ones to arrive and Itsumiko had an unexpected guest waiting for her.
"So I hear you're leaving the village for a few days," Neji said.
"Aren't you supposed to be training?" She asked him with a smile. Kakashi looked between the two of them. He then stepped almost in between them.
"Yeah, aren't you supposed to be training?" Kakashi asked. Neji seemed to get the hint and nodded his head. Neji gave her a small wave and a smile and walked away. Kakashi watched his retreating figure and then looked at Itsumiko.
"Really? Neji?" He asked her. A small blush formed on her face.
"What? Neji is a good guy. I don't know why you're so defensive," She said.
